Hello,
I finally have been able to do a little bit of sewing. I managed to sew on the dining room table, only had to stop about 5 times because my legs kept going numb! LOL. I was sewing on a pretty high table, so my legs were dangling. But I did manage to get my HST's sewn. My question.... How do I put this together now?!! LOL I've been trying to figure it out for about 3 hours, and can't seem to figure it out. I am making (or trying to make) a Carpenters Star... http://www.quiltfrog.com/fourhourquiltclass.html I just can't seem to figure out how to set the HST's and the squares to make the star. If it helps I can take pictures of the blocks that I have, but don't know if that will help you help me? I'm just lost now! lol Do any of you know how I can set them to make the actual star? Thanks in Advance Wanda |
Have a look at this diagram, I hope this helps

Love those star quilts. I suppose I'll need to add them to my list...

Thank you for the link, I am going to give up for tonight. I am going crossed eyed looking at this, and well, it doesn't help that I have a headache as well. I will see if I can give it a fresh look in the morning!
Thanks Again Wanda |
Wanda, put a fat book under your feet! Us short people have to improvise!
Woody, thanks for that link. Like the look of the hanging! |
Great link, thank you!
Wanda, if using a high table, you might want to try sewing standing up. I do that with my industrial sewing all the time, as long as the flooring is not concrete, it's not hard on the back, and if you're working with bigger pieces, often easier to manoever (sp?) the fabric. |

I made this layout for someone else who needed a little help with figuring out the HST's.
It's in pdf format, so just save it to your computer and it will open in Acrobat Reader. This quilt needs 36 blocks each of four different blocks, all the same size: Plain background squares, Bkgd fabric with red HST’s, Bkgd fabric with blue HST’s, and Red with blue HST’s Of course, you will substitute the color scheme that you're using. :) If you have trouble, just put up a couple of pictures of the HST blocks you've made and I'll make a color map for you. It's really hard to figure this stuff out sometimes and even after five years, I still get "lost" in a pattern. Good luck! :) Carpenter's Wheel - 1 page PDF with yardage notes |
Thanks for the links!

I don't know if it's because I'm missing something, or b/c your picture has 12 squares instead of my 8 squares across. I have to go to work but here are the pictures, and I will check later tonight when I get home. |
