Hi everyone.

School for me started two weeks ago (I'm in my third week) and it's keeping me very busy! (studying part time to be a medical assistant). I really miss my sewing machines but all the projects I have right now are long term ones and I want something I can work on one or twice a week and will only take about 10 hours to do...I'd like to start with some Christmas gift but am at a loss of what to make that won't be a repeat of last years gifts ( a bow tuck, table runners, pot holders...) Any suggestions?

Edited to add that I must use from my stash, at the moment I have no extra $ to go buy anything, including batting...luckily I have a ton of Warm and Natural!

How about the microwaveable bowl holders. There is a great tutorial posted on this list. Just be sure to use only 100% cotton fabric, thread and use the potato sack batting.

First think of the people you are wanting to give gifts too. I write all the names and then go back and decided from there. You should know their likes and dislikes. I quilt and crochet and I have little ideas. So I will be watching for ideas. I know this year from my scraps I am going to make some of theose chickens that a memeber made on here. They are so cute. I did see a member made for children a crayon holder. Maybe do mug rugs and give a mug with it. I'm thinking about doing it for the teachers. Hopefully someone will come along and give us both ideas.

I have been making tissue box covers and mug rugs. They don't take much fabric at all

If you have kids on your gift list, I would suggest pillowcases. They love novelty fabrics and bright colors.

I was going to ask the same thing? Where do you find the pattern?

Adults too. I made a man a set of camo pillowcases and he still talks about them. I gave women holiday ones. Used my stash:)
A couple of younger women I made some out of beach fabric.:)
