OK, here's the deal....
My friend Sara & I are going to be making a quilt for our friend's daughter's wedding. The bride likes those 1970's style aqua/turquoise & brown prints. This is what we are considering - a single Irish Chain, using those blues & browns in maybe Moda Marbles. Then, for the alternate blocks, I found some Michael Miller fabrics, in his "dumb dots" line, that are the right colors. One alternate block with polka dots, & the other with a print that will read a little darker. I ordered some of the M.Miller fabrics for samples, but, of course, 2 are backordered! Here's a pic of the one that came today, and a diagram of the quilt, with tan & aqua "standing in" for the print fabrics.
What do you think?

The backordered print is a denser pattern, more brown

I just finished 2 quilts in T and B, one was the pioneer sampler and one was done in a modern pattern. They both came out just right.
The pioneer one is posted in pictures, not a very good picture since I cant get my scanner to make a good clear picture.

Here we go!! Last weekend, I washed & ironed 17 yards of fabric. Then Sara came over - she cut strips & the alternate blocks & I sewed and she pressed & I sewed some more. :)
Last night I put together most of the 9-patches we had done, and that made 4 whole rows finished! WoooooHooooo!!!!
I laid it out on the dining room table & took some pictures and here they are:

great job. I love your design!!! And the fabric!!!

Mamagus 10-04-2008 06:14 AM

I guess this came up during my vacation.

Love the colors and the idea. I'd move the heart down the quilt so that it isn't covered by shams and pillows on the bed.

Are you close to finishing it yet?

Alaskan lady 10-04-2008 06:24 AM

Pretty quilt. Like the pattern. She will be so excited to have it!

Joan 10-04-2008 06:43 AM

I have to add my two cents worth and add that it is going to be spectacular. You are just so clever putting that heart in the design and the color scheme is so modern. The bride will love it!---be sure to post more pics....

Deb G 10-04-2008 07:23 AM

I agree with Mamagus about moving the heart down so it wouldn't get covered up.

I like the colors and the pattern. I'm sure she'll love it.

My neice just painted her room those colors. It looks really nice though alittle on the trendy side.

You'll have to post a pic of it when you get it finished.
