I have my Grandma's quilt she and her Mother made many years ago. Just ran across a handwritten note that gave the dates of when it was made and I'm wanting to attach it somehow to the quilt. It's just a small piece of paper. Does anyone have any suggestions as how to do this? Thanks!

I have heard of people making a small pocket on the back of the quilt for such documents. You might consider this.

if it's small enough, can you copy it print it on a label and attach it like that???

I would scan the note and print it out on a fabric sheet and then attach it to the quilt. The purchased fabric sheets you put through your printer work really well.

Thank you! Now that you said that I think I do remember seeing it done that way.

I would make a fabric label with the information on it to sew to the back of the quilt. Then I would put the paper note in the family bible for safekeeping

if you copy and print on fabric, you might want to note where the original note is kept

I appreciate everyone's ideas. :-)

Copy the note onto some photo fabric. Then you can sew the note to the back of the quilt. I would add another note with any other information about all of the people involved, the history of the quilt etc. Also a very small section for the cleaning and care for the quilt. You could also handstitch a pocket onto the back to keep the note in. I would put it in plastic or have it laminated. You might be able to get a laminating pocket larger than necessary, add the note in the center, then have them just laminate around the sides without having the center where the note is located laminated. Hope that makes sense. Just MHO.

When adding city and state information always include the county where the city is located. Sometimes there are more than one city in a state with the same name.

Laminate it and make a pocket for it to go into..best way to preserve it!
