One of my storage customers sells fabrics commercially...to places like motel chains for making drapes, etc.
Today, she brought me in 2 partial bolts and 1 full bolt (roll type bolts) of fabrics! She also brought me some canvas scraps that will be perfect for leaders on the quilting frame...there are about 200 of them, she says...scraps from making stretchers for the life flight helicopters, so they're sturdy! :) She's promised to bring more of the fabrics...so now I need suggestions on how I should use them...they're mostly poly or poly blends...so I'm not real hepped up on the idea of using them for quilts.... What would you do with them if they were yours? Keep in mind, the one bolt of fabric has at least 10 yards on it...and is 60 inches wide...so to make totes would be an awful lot of totes!! |
Perhaps an apron with appliqued decorations from regular fabric?
Make leaders and sell them on the board to us newbie frame owners who do not have leaders yet :)
Trade the fabric here.
make table runners or runners for dressers
Make tote bags and donate them to the local hospital for new moms or cancer patients to use....just a suggestion.

If you belong to the guild, share the wealth! Maybe make it available for charity projects such as helping battered women shelters (totes, purses, etc.)
I don't belong to a guild, my work hours don't allow it, but I have no problem donating to them if they want some of it!!
Aprons sound like a good project for some of the heavier stuff... Thanks Ladies! |
Make beds for animal rescue organization with shredded foam filling. I like the totes idea too and add to that "green" bags to substitute for all those plastic shopping bags.
Sounds like sturdy material. maybe use them to make those kinds of hangers that hold rulers, calendars, rolls of batting. or maybe make doggie beds & blankets for rescue centers. or, make drapes. lol...
