I really do love this site. But it is causing me tremendous troubles. And I just don't know what to do about it.
I love to quilt, but I also love to read all the comments on this site. But how am I supposed to sew anything when I am addicted to this place? I do not forsee my husband nor my two little doggies doing any quilting for me at this point in my life. And it sure isn't going to do it by itself. My sewing machine is sitting on the top landing of the stairs in its carrying case untouched, unloved since Tuesday when I went to my little sewing group. Today is Friday. And from where I sit here reading all thes posts, occasionally my head will turn and I can see it just sitting there crying to come out of its case. Do you all realize how sad that is for a sewing machine? The poor thing is so cold. It doesn't even have a quilt to cover up with. So I suppose I will get off here and at least go put it on my sewing table and plug it in and warm it up a little before my little Brother catches a cold and has to go to the Sewing Machine Hospital. And Heaven forbid, from my 3 day neglect that its little motor heart hasn't been broken forever. :)

Poor Baby..you better show it some love...

craftybear 01-07-2011 11:01 AM

Airwick156 01-07-2011 11:02 AM

I will im going right now. LOLOL

fabric whisperer 01-07-2011 11:03 AM

awww, you need to go make your baby a quilt to keep it warm when you neglect it

Cyn 01-07-2011 11:05 AM

I'll tell you what. I have the same issue so I am going to have to set aside an hour or a little more each day to check this site and turn it off to sew, cook dinner, make beds and feed the animals to name a few things that have been neglected :) See you later :)

amma 01-07-2011 11:08 AM

Poor little Brother :( I hope you are giving him some much needed love and attention :D:D:D

bjnicholson 01-07-2011 11:11 AM

I'm gone. My latest excuse was I need lunch so I could sit here and read some more. I wasted all morning here! Well, not wasted...I learn a lot when I'm here!

HA!! HA!! I am so bad at times I was going to post that someone kick me off the board or suspend me for at least a week!!! But then....I'd have withdrawals! Well, I did do an allnighter and done my BOM!! I liked doing it so much now I want to do more...good incentive! Do just one small thing that you know you'll love, then it'll make you want to do another and another! OK, now to take my own medicine!!! :hunf:

Cyn 01-07-2011 11:31 AM

Well Howdy! How long did I last away from here- lol. There are too many repair people in my space right now so I need to be doing something so naturally I came back here. I did grab a sandwich to eat while visiting the board. I'm hopeless.

Airwick156 01-07-2011 11:38 AM

Well, I warmed up my Brother...he's a happy fella now.I warmed him up real good. And he even said he wasn't too mad at me, that he knew I would come back to warm him up. I sewed twelve units of the 7 strips for the black and white fabric fling I am making for a wedding gift. And then him and I compromised on a plan...as long as I promise not to let him get tooo cold, he won't mind me spending alot of time on this site. And I in turn told him I would make sure to cover him up when he's not being used that way he doesn't get sick on me. Sooooooooooo after telling Brother Thank you for all your hard work, I unplugged the boy and covered him up with another WIP. And now he won't be cold. :) I just love having one on one conversations with my sewing machine..even if hubby and the dogs thinks I'm nuts. hehe

susiequilt 01-07-2011 11:47 AM

I try to alternate machines to help prevent them from getting envious of each other!
They both give me a dirty look when I am on here instead of playing with them!

Airwick156 01-07-2011 11:55 AM

I only have one machine. But someday and I hope that someday comes soon, I want to get another sewing machine.

Up North 01-07-2011 11:57 AM

If I forget to turn my machine off he beeps at me when I turn on the light to let me know he is here!! LOL

I think you should make a sewing machine cover for your little Brother. Then you would be using him and covering him properly when he's not being used. Deal?

I think alot of us can relate.

Melinda in Tulsa 01-07-2011 03:06 PM

I think most of us here suffer with same affliction!

anniesews 01-08-2011 05:57 AM

We need a 12 step program. I have the same adiction.
This is the first thing I check before I start my day.
Annie :-(

craftymatt2 01-08-2011 08:39 AM

OMG, I love this site and all the people. I feel like I am one of all of you. I spend hours on this site, its the next day before I know it. I forgot to sleep. I don't feel tired, no wonder I forgot to sleep.

huntannette 01-08-2011 08:59 AM

just have to organise your time...an hour here, an hour there.....don`t let it die of a broken heart...i here it reallly hurts lol

scrappylady 01-08-2011 09:23 AM

Is there a Support Group out there for us???? I have the same problem . I "say" it is because my sewing room is cold...but is it? Or is that just an "excuse"

Ellis' Granny B 01-08-2011 09:55 AM

You are in good company. What I T-R-Y to do is look at this site when I am in the room keeping my husband company. He is addicted to all of the news programs on CNN and watches for hours. Secondly, if he is not home I unplug my laptop, that way when the 1 1/2 hours is up and the computer shuts down, I move on to another task or chore. Thirdly, I check this site when I take a break from my housework. Sometimes it works. They say to do something for 30 days befroe it becomes a good habit.

Melinda in Tulsa 01-08-2011 10:50 AM

Oh, so you use the *sewing room is cold* excuse too! I've been saying I need to get a space heater for mine, but so far, just haven't done so. If I leave the door open, my cats think it is their personal playground and wreck it. If I close the door, it is too cold in there. Can't win for losing!

champagnebubbles 01-08-2011 11:46 AM

So...Guess what I got for Christmas...a laptop!!! and My DSIL hooked up wireless...so/sew...I now I have this right next to me and my machine ! This is the high life !!!!!

neece 01-08-2011 03:28 PM

Not only is my sewing machine without a quilt but my printer is covered with a plastic bag off a batting. he is really disappointed in me

1Blondie 01-08-2011 06:56 PM

I am so happy he is feeling better, LOL

jograma 01-08-2011 07:10 PM

My DH says if I would stay off the internet and quit looking for new fabric and just sew what I have I would be a lot further ahead! What fun is that?

wonderwoman 01-08-2011 07:22 PM

That's cute...really cute...now get busy!!!! For goodness sakes!

sew wishful 01-08-2011 07:30 PM

I am so addicted too! I haven't gone to the sewing cave since MONDAY!! I'm gonna start making this my reward...sew for 2 hours read these threads 1 hour and keep going with that til I can sew 3 hours, then 4 hours!!! I may not be a "regular" when I finally get down to an hour on here, but that's the breaks!

wraez 01-08-2011 08:49 PM

I understand your dilemma ... I belong to a number of quilt groups online besides this board and the time just zips by and I don't get anything done ... unless I don't turn on the computer all day long.

warm quilt hugs, sue in CA

Yeah, I think you should get another machine, or two, to keep Little Brother company. Being an only child is lonely

grammysharon 01-08-2011 10:53 PM

I am right there with you! I haven't sewed since Tuesday but I did iron 17 yards of fabric today that I purchased @ Fabric Depot yesterday

siamquilter 01-08-2011 11:27 PM

Here's something that's helped me a bit. Not sure it's on a PC, but on my Macbook, under Edit there is a Speech function. Takes getting used to the computer voice, and how it reads a screen, but it lets me do a bit of sewing and still check on websites. I also use the speech feature in Adobe to read files to me. Not a perfect solution, but it helps.

Set it up beside your computer so you can take "breaks" from sewing to check out us. I have a computer in the basement along with my sewing machines.

Tweety2911 01-09-2011 12:25 PM

Same problem....only have one more row to quilt on the longarm but here I sit reading and writing getting too tired to move, maybe tomorrow, oh no I have another days worth of reading, maybe Tuesday LOL

maxi 01-10-2011 02:09 PM

Turn the computer off each time you quit to do anything. That keeps me from just going on so easily. My son says that is actually good for the computer too. Cleans things up when it reboots. Who knows?
