New embroidery machine..sites for patterns?

I got a new Janome 300e and I can download patterns on a card. Does anyone have websites that you get you patterns online from? I found one, but I'm wanting to get some free ones to practice on and practice downloading since I'm not 100% sure how to do that. I've seen where you have to buy another item to be able to download and use on the machine. But I've also heard you really don't have to buy this other item/program.

Thanks in advance.

my favorite is designsbyjuju.com I like it because they are cute. I do a lot of childrens items. her prices will say 20 per set, but there are always offers that bring them down to 4 or 5 per set.
she has a full page of freebees to try.

Many great designers and sales at oregonpatchworks.com . this is a mall type of place with many individual "stores"

you can pay with paypal at all of them. most have instand download.

Many good digitizers post there though there are also some rank amateurs that aren't very good. Mostly nice people though.

Well they gave you all my fave sites. Embroidery library has tons of free ones that arent even on the free page. I find them when I browsing around just looking.

Thank you all so much. I sure will check them all out. I cannot wait to play with my new machine.

Try this site:

http://cuteembroidery.com

The "designs by cuties" section has many, many free designs that are posted by members of this site. I especially like the "optical" designs posted...beautiful florals, butterflies, etc.

Good luck!

Check out the Janome site as the manufacturers sometimes have projects and a few free designs.

Google free machine embroidery designs you will be pleasantly surprized at how many are out there. My fav is redwork because I can actually use them as quilting in plain squares

If you get "free" designs, make sure they are from a reputable site like Embroidery Library. Many free designs are not digitized well, and you will waste your time and materials. We've all learned the hard way on that score. Janome, Pfaff, Viking, Bernina, Babylock, Brother, have free designs on their websites. My favorite is also Emb Library; their prices are very reasonable and very worth it and they run specials etc. Get on their monthly email list, I just got mine this morning, and can't resist buying at least one design. The other good thing about EmbLibrary is once you buy your design (in your format) they keep it on their site for you in case you lose yours and need to re-load it.

There are hundreds of excellent designs and design sites. It can become an addiction... ask me how I know ! I was/am addicted to monograms, that's a whole other discussion. :)

Have fun !

Another advantage of emblibrary.com is they keep a record of all your purchases under your history, so you can go there and download as many times as you wish. I don't have to remember where I kept them. And they have all designs indexed so they're easy to find. They're my favorite by far!!

I like Bunnycup.com especially for their appliques.

annthegran.com
http://www.embroidery.com/
http://www.designsbysick.com/search
http://www.embroideryonline.com/index.aspx
http://www.kemp-emb.co.za/ds882.html
http://www.digistitches.com/
http://www.windstarembroidery.com/index.cfm
http://www.artisticthreadworks.com/public/main.cfm
http://www.c-some-stitches.com/

Does that help? I have spent hours on the net looking for designs. The free ones on Annthegran you have to be careful of the digitizer, anybody can offer a free design there. I have designs by sick and they are good, and embroidery.com is great. They just did a design for me and it worked up really nice.

Good luck with your toy.
