I think I would try to extend the diagnals into the border... I'm not sure just how I'd do it, without messing with the pattern, but I think it would look wonderful for them to end in the border with a point... Then use use the solid just as you have it. HOpe that makes sense to you.

I would like to see it with a small in width border and piano keys about 5 inches wide in the same colors of the quilt top and finally another small border.

I like it. A plain border will give you an opportunity for some nice quilting that will show up great.

Multiple small borders in solids uding colours from the main body of the quilt would be nice

I think your the design as shown in your original picture looks wonderful, and remember, if this is to go on a bed you won't be seeing the whole thing at once, nor will it be laid out flat as it is on the wall. If I look at just a portion of the quilt at a time, it is still beautiful, so is well balanced as is.

First it is spectacular! Second I would put a thinnish white stripe in the middle of the blue around to break up the heaviness of the blue.

I like it just the way you have it. Very nice

I'd go with the plain border being the inside is busy

If you want something besides plain but not take away from the quilt how about a varigated or blender fabric. It will have a little texture but still let the quilt shine; which it totally rocks.
