I posted here before about the LQS and my issues with it. Mainly that I was uncomfortable about going because they would discuss the fact that they were behind on their bills with me, they tried to make me feel bad about buying a new machine from a dealer instead of a used one from them (that was there on consignment), and they said they would never get any of the new brighter lines of fabric in. This week I stopped in to ask about longarm basting (they don't have a longarm machine anymore though) and there was a new owner. She said she's already ordered some of what she considered brighter color lines but they won't be delivered for a few months yet. I'm hopeful. 8-)

I am glad for you that there is new owners. please tell me, do most LQS do basting on Long arm for customers at a price?

I have no idea if they do. I first heard of it here so I'm going to check a couple of the non-local shops and see if they do it.

I think pretty much anyone that has a longarm and does work for hire would also offer the basting service. Just ask what the price would be.

The new owner at this shop had never heard of it but then she doesn't own a longarm so that may be why. I did have a long discussion with the former owner about how much trouble I have basting due to not enough room here and she never mentioned using a longarm to do it so I wonder if she knew about that. She was a fairly new longarm owner.

Happy for you!

And that was another missed business opportunity (iow $$$) for her.

Probably depends on the area, in 10 years I have only basted 1 quilt to prepare it for hand quilting. And no inquiries about doing more.
