New ? RE: Can't decide on border

I have been studying the quilt and border and have come up with a new ? I'm begining to think that the border is to dark for the body of the quilt and should be relpaced. Please feel free to offer up your opinion on this. Here is an idea with just the paisley border. Here is the original idea http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...r-t191950.html

I love the paisley ! It keeps the whole quilt mellow.......
Love love love it !

RV Quilter 06-17-2012 05:21 AM

I love what you have done. Don't change it.

Sunnie 06-17-2012 05:21 AM

I wouldn't replace it as it ties the quilt together.

CajunQuilter2 06-17-2012 05:22 AM

I really like the paisley.....

I like the paisley, don't change it.

i really like that one the best

I think that the inner purple border needs to be replaced with a green inner border and then try the paisley. I think the inner border is too dark and the tops needs some green in the border. Then I think the paisley will work.

The gorgeous border print that you showed us yesterday - http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...r-t191950.html - that is the stuff dreams are made of. I would keep it in the quilt no matter what. Yes it is dark, but it still goes very well. What if you have the narrow dark inner border (like on this page) then a slightly larger light border, then the border print, and then optionally the green paisley?

I agree with you , it look perfect this way!!!!!!!!!!!!

crafty pat 06-17-2012 06:50 AM

I love it the way it is. I would not change a thing.

mzzzquilts 06-17-2012 06:57 AM

I still vote for the original with the pink paisley.

SouthPStitches 06-17-2012 06:59 AM

It's wonderful the way it is.

I agree with the original border fabric. It is gorgeous and just frames this quilt perfectly! Sometimes we tend to over think things and change our minds a dozen times. You really made a perfect choice using the original border print. Frames this quilt perfectly!

I agree ... the dark border print takes it from being a lovely (ordinary) quilt to one with a never-forget impact!

I'll agree with Dunster right thru to the dark border print, then stop before her green paisley suggestion (if the green is the mid-green in the centre of the quilt??). Just be careful that you don't get the pink border too wide.

jcrow 06-17-2012 07:57 AM

Don't change a thing. I love it just the way it is. It all ties in well together. You got it perfect!!! Don't second guess yourself. If you start doing that, you might not like what you end up with.

I like it better the way you have it here, with the paisley border. The darker border seems to overpower the quilt to me.

Dolphyngyrl 06-17-2012 08:47 AM

I still like the black border best but I am not a huge pink person

Thank you everyone for all the input you sent to me. I have decided what to do and the result will be in a near future post. Thanks again.
peace to all

The only thing I would do is add a darker binding to what you have because the piasley trails off and doesn't stop the eye from going right off the side of the quilt Otherwise it is wonderful and I wouldn't change anything. Best stitches!

I love yesterdays choice! Beautiful quilt!

Bluelady 06-17-2012 10:26 AM

It looks great the way it is. But if you were looking for a light springtime feeling then a lighter border would be better. Perhaps, as bigsis63 mentioned, changing the inner border would brighten it up.

If this were mine I would agree. Green inner border, the paisley, and then the darker binding you currently have as the inner border. Ties the quilt together as your eye starts at the center, and follows the colors going outward. But, that is how I see it and how I tie colors together. The dark inner border is too bold in my opinion.

pdcakm 06-17-2012 10:30 AM

looked back on your prev post. i think the dark border really makes the quilt pop. the current option is ok but the prev one is more vibrant. good luck. these choices are really tough and ultimately you have to do what works for you.

debquilts2 06-17-2012 10:57 AM

think it looks very pretty just the way it is
