new signs at JoAnns and Hancock fabrics!!!

Both stores in the Kansas City area had signs posted on or near the front doors saying they will now accept all coupons taken off your phone or i-pad....so, be sure to shoot a photo of the coupon off the screen on your computer ( might have to take 2 to get it all or 3 to get a close up of the bar code numbers ) the cash register will not be able to scan your phone, so the cashier will need to be able to read the coupon numbers and manually punch them into the computer. I had a one in my e'mail box from JoAnns that good TODAY only and was able to use it at both Joanns and Hancocks....nice bit of savings in my pocket!!

cmw0829 09-22-2012 11:26 AM

That's great to know. Thanks for sharing the experience.

Last Saturday I went to a store that I hadn't planned and didn't have the coupon from their email. My husband sent it to my phone from the home email and they gave me the savings by showing the email with the coupon in it.

I think this says something about the way of the future. :)

lynnie 09-22-2012 12:47 PM

I told them i dont have an iphone but a tablet, they tld me to brng it in and they will scan from the screen

MommaDorian 09-22-2012 12:57 PM

Wow, how cool is that? Another reason I need an iPad or a smart phone. lol

barking-rabbit 09-22-2012 01:07 PM

I have an app from Joann's that has the coupons already. I use my iPad, the clerks liked how it was so much bigger to read then an iPhone.

LoisM 09-22-2012 01:10 PM

I'm already looking forward to my next trip to Joann's.

Stitchnripper 09-22-2012 01:15 PM

just had a coupon scanned from my phone at JoAnn's today. Hancocks and JoAnn's will take each others coupons. At least here they do.

MommaDorian 09-22-2012 01:15 PM

Where do all these great coupons come from?

coffeebreak 09-22-2012 01:26 PM

Joann's have been doing that for awhile now...taking any competitors coupns..plus theirs and you can use them all together. Joann's will take all competitors, those printed online nad those from their mailer...all in the same visit.
Today I did that...(well, did it earlier this week to but got some more on line last night!) 50% off regular items (sometimes hard to find!) I had 8 of them. And then another coupon for 15% off ENTIRE purchase including sale items! So I got 1/2 yard of 11 diff fabs for $2.12 each. Kind of like the price of a FQ...$1.99 for 1/4 sq yd.. I got 1/2 yd for $2.

Join their mailing list and get them online and join the mailing list in the store and get them in the mail. I could afford to quilt if I didn't get the ocupons! I used one today for 50% off on $5 batting...plus 15% off that!

jodimarie 09-22-2012 01:50 PM

I don't have a ''fancy phone'' just a simple flip phone with a camera that shoots OK stuff. you can shoot photos off your computer screen, that way I don't have to have a printer!!! and when you reach the check out at the store, just pull out your phone and scroll till you find the correct coupon photo! You also need to sign up for the mailers that come out about once a month and be sure to also sign up for the e'mail alerts ( tell you computer NOT to send them to the spam box!!! ) I get 2 mailers, one at my home address and one at my business, so I have double the coupons to use. Today, I was able to also use 10 ( 5 50% coupons in each Joanns mailer!!!! ) and added a few fun goodies. Found several bolts of almost gone fabric and after she cut my 1 yard I asked for, I also took it all for the 1/2 off rement price...it was a good day at the J!

AlienQuilter 09-22-2012 01:52 PM

Here you go: http://www.joann.com/coupon/

I used a Hobby Lobby 40 percent off coupon at Joann's the other day.

I need the email address they'll be coming from to do this. Does anybody know which one they use?

alfosa421 09-22-2012 02:40 PM

Just scored big time during coupon madness week!!!!!!! Nice to see them honoring (and even helping) so that you get the most bang for your buck!!!!

MattieMae 09-22-2012 02:49 PM

Hope this helps prevent some of the selfish women from grabbing a dozen of the store flyers from the plastic caddies located at the store entrance. A few months ago, I walked in behind one who emptied the caddy. The service desk had none left. I found her in the polar fleece (which was already on sale), explained that she took the last of the flyers, and asked if I could have one. Nope. That greedy b---- said she "needed" them all. ~~

The in-store flyers here never have the coupons, only the ones that are mailed out.

Mariposa 09-22-2012 03:13 PM

Thanks for the info here! :) Nice to know about all the competitors' coupons as well!

I thought most of the coupons say you can only use per visit?

BellaBoo 09-22-2012 05:16 PM

I don't cut coupons anymore. All major stores have an app with the updated coupons available. I pay for phone service so I let the phone save me time and money as much a possible.

bearisgray 09-22-2012 05:55 PM

I don't recall seeing coupons in the in-store flyers, either.

MattieMae 09-22-2012 07:28 PM

It seems like the stores are really different depending on where you go. Some have coupons, some don't. Some honor fabric coupons for bolt batting, some don't. Discounts given for end-of-bolt fabrics are different.

One store I go to insists on separate purchase ring-ups if you're buying two items with two 50% fabric coupons (one from the in-store flyer and one from the mailer), or if you're getting two items with two 40% off coupons from Hobby Lobby.

I suppose the manager has a lot to do it, and also how much competition is in the area. I'm also starting to believe that the individual employees have a hand in this. I wish I had a smartphone.

Sewnoma 09-22-2012 07:44 PM

I have the Joann's app too. Get on their mailing list if you aren't already...I have gone in with paper coupons from the flyer, plus printed coupons from email, PLUS coupons from the app and they let me use them all on the same purchase.

There aren't any Hobby Lobbys in my area, but there are Beverly's fabrics here, and they will take Joann's coupons but only honor them up to 30% off. (So you can use a 50% off coupon, but they'll only give a 30% discount for it.) They don't even have signs that say this; another local quilter on this forum clued me in!

Did they let you use their 15% off coupon with a 50% off coupon? I didn't think they would do that.

romanojg 09-23-2012 04:04 AM

I signed up at both places to have text from Joann's and emails from Hancock's so that I always have them. I get more coupons from Hancocks due to this than when they were coming in the mail. Plus with Hancock's I like having them on me because for the first 3 Wed it's either Senior Citizen or Military discount and those go on top of your sales or coupon. Having them coming to my phone each week sure has saved me money.

I know that when I went to Hancock Fabrics I had to have them ring me up separtley and then use my 15% senior citizen discount for each one. I saved a lot. It's set up in the register on how they can apply the discount; my store won't allow employees to do certain multiple discounts. It depends on how the coupon reads.

deedum 09-23-2012 04:42 AM

I always check my phone for coupons online. It can save you money, especially when the item is full price! If you have the Joann's app on your phone, it is easy to get the coupon! If they can't scan it, they will just key it in. It has saved me money at times.

FLQ 09-23-2012 05:50 AM

There is an app for the Joann's coupons. I have a tablet and an iPhone and someone let me take a pic of her android phone coupon. It's getting a lot more convenient to us coupons.

donna13350 09-23-2012 11:37 AM

Already looking forward to Black Friday!

lfstamper 09-23-2012 11:41 AM

Good to know. Hobby Lobby takes phone coupons.

newbiequilter 09-23-2012 11:47 AM

WOW - this all sounds so enticing....just wish my JA store was nicer.

QandE2010 09-23-2012 12:31 PM

Yes, I use my iPhone all the time and use the app on it. My Joann's loves the idea. (Or so they say) Thanks for the tip.

tuppermern 09-23-2012 01:18 PM

If you have a bonus 15% off coupon for your entire purchase----------it will NOT be applied to anything you used a 40 or 50% coupon on.

Bevkay 09-23-2012 01:40 PM

In JoAnn's recently I had 1 coupon from newspaper. Sales clerk took the coupon and laminated it so I could put it in my wallet and always have it with me.....now I'll be looking for even more coupons for I did'nt know that J and Hancock's would accept each others. So good to know!!!

nstitches4u 09-23-2012 01:43 PM

Thanks for the information.

I'm confused. Didn't the coupon have an expiration date?

But...you can use your phone app with coupons, the clipped coupons from the flyers, and the printed coupons from email etc. all in the same visit. At least around my area you can. Really great!

rakerlm 09-24-2012 03:49 AM

There is an app for that - Michael's, Hobby Lobby, and JoAnn's all have an app where you can get the coupons on your Iphone or other smart fun - love my Iphone!

Michael_r 09-24-2012 03:55 AM

I've also found one 50% off Halloween coupon for Joann Fabrics: http://www.joann.com/static/coupon/0.../halloween.gif (hope it works). The coupon code for online use is FXA305. Let me know if someone uses it and works.

What's the adress of their app where you get the coupons? I am really curios too! Thanks!

Everybody getting all these great bargains makes me want to go shopping! LOL!

Happy Monday!

maviskw 09-24-2012 07:03 AM

When I was at JoAnn's last week, the person in front of me in line was buying 5 or 6 pieces of fabric. Lots of these were end of bolts. She just said, "I want it all." The sales clerk measured to the end and I think charged full price for all. I was just holding my breath. Should I tell her she could get some of it at half off? I didn't. But I'll never forget that.
