i LOVE to hand applique but sometimes I need some inspiration beyond the standard Balitmore Album style stuff. A colleague of mine at work does stained glass and gave me some patterns to copy. Way cool! They are big and because they are for stained glass, the patterns are set up for use with different colors just like applique. I used a front door inset design that I modified for a table runner below. I have another one with petunias that has a nice black border similar to a Celtic style. I need to go on line to see what other patterns are available and I will definitely be on the look out for books. Has anyone tried the patterns?

Wonderful! Thanks for sharing this with us.

The pieces will be a decent size because most people can't handle really small pieces of glass. You just need to add the seam allowance.
Remember to NEVER cut the original cartoon. It is your reference. |

Iv'e used these also to make stained glass quilts. I just make black bias tape for the leading. It turned out great.

I've used stain glass patterns for machine embroidery as well as applique for years.

Yes, i have thought of trying it, but i am not really into applique. I use to do stained glass til i discovered quilting so i have lots of books and patterns. Your runner is beautiful.

I have used the black bias tape with a double needle for machine applique.
