I wonder if it would dull needles fast - silica is basically sand. Up home, we has a plant called horsetails that you could use to clean pots and pans with because the silica in it worked like Comet or Ajax- abrasives.

I've ordered a crib size for an Irish chain that I'm going to try. I'll let you know how it sews up.

Can't wait to hear the results! If it works well it will be great for babies, toddlers and kids!! Not to mention great for pot holders...I may not be able to wait for the results, I may have to go ahead and try it for myself!! Thanks for the info!!
