HI everyone! Do you by any chance know of some good resources that include visuals for using a walking foot? I rarely change my foot and am super clueless about this one. There are no instructions and the video doesn't explain it, either. I didn't purchase the machine, no classes are included. I'm clueless and planning to machine quilt the grandma's flower garden I'm working on...after some serious practice!!! I'm not finished with the top yet but plan to have the blocks completed at least by fall. Any suggestions are welcome. :!: :!: Thanks.

I use my foot to sew my binding on to my quilt....it grips and helps the fabric move right along........great foot...once you start to use it you will always use it for sewing the binding onto the quilt...thats before you blindstitch the binding to th e quilt afterwards....Good luck....NAncy

Thanks, Nancy. I used to just use the all purpose foot I had for the first side of binding. I can't wait to get to the binding, though!! I think I'm getting ahead of myself since I only have 7 blocks done LOL.

there are so many things I am learning to change on my sewing machine that make quilting easier like my tension and the size of the needles...I have a walking foot also and I can say I have never used it but I keep hearing stuff about it and I guess I need to pull the thing out and play with it and see just what it can do to make quilting easier....does your local quilt shop have a class or someone that can give you a little tour of how it all works?....

If you post what machine you have, maybe someone with a similar machine can give you a few pointers. Each brand has just a little different design & way of attaching.

I have a Kenmore model 385.19233. I didn't purchase it. I would love to take a class if offered locally but DH works crazy hours and I'm home with the munchkins with no family nearby.

pojeda had a link that also had a related link to machine quilting with the walking foot for anyone else who's interested.

I like the walking foot for joining long strips lengthwise, too.

Moonpi, do you mean rows of blocks or for preparing for strip piecing? Or both?
