Hi, I would like to make quilts for my local NICU. I was wondering if anyone here has done that. If so, what size quilt and any other tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would call the NICU and ask them what size would be best for them. I have heard various sizes requested by different hospitals.

We made some from our guild. We did call and ask for guidance/requirements first. It is very rewarding.

Our Guild makes them. Our hospitals ask for 32 by 32. But you should check first.

check with the hospital- they all have their own unique 'needs/wishes'

here is a link to guidelines of items to be donated for the use of premies, hope this helps you! A good size for a NICU quilt is 30"x30".

I would ask the hospital first what size they prefer. Great project.

Thank you everyone. I called the hospital...slowly I turn lol. Waiting for them to get back to me. Now I need to post on the classified for juvenile fabric.

Hi Our group made some and they were either 16 " x 20" or 36" x 36" the smaller ones are to on the incubator and the larger to go over the top to keep out the light. Also we had to use 1 oz polyester wadding.
Our Hospital didn't know about people making patchwork quilts and they were over the moon it was really rewarding.
