Julie in NM 06-12-2010 04:58 PM

Have three 66 gal plastic bins full of fab scraps. Started to go thru them today thinking I many get inspiration for scrappy pattern for next project. Lots of brights but very little lights and only one container with dark dark dark. Maybe I'll just donate the scraps to local quilt group that does lots of charity sewing. Scraps are all sizes..chunks, squares and long skinny strips. Bummer...Ok feel better now! :?

There are few women on the boards that have limited incomes and would love to have the scraps. ask around, please before you take them somewhere else. Thanks

Oh, I agree. They would be willing to take them off your hands.

See, I would go out and buy 10 yards of off whites and dig in.

Hi Julie in NM. No, I'm not writing about your scraps. However, I know there are women on the board who would love to have them. I have lots of scraps here which I don't know if I will get get used.
I noticed you are in NM. My family moved from there many years ago. We had long roots there so wondered where you are from in the state.
We lived just outside Springer, and did shopping in Raton, mostly. In fact, we lived on The French Tract. That is the NE corner of the state, so just interested where you live.
Hope you have a wonderful day!
Mariah.

I went thru Raton on my way to Denver last Sunday! I lived in Trinidad when I was young and went to church for a year or so in Raton (when the pass wasn't closed due to snow, that is).

Hey, if Julie wants to donate her scraps to a local group that makes quilts for charity instead of mailing them to a cyber-stranger for personal use, I think that's great! Charity begins at home, remember?

When I made my first quilt, I was very pleased with every block UNTIL I laid them all out together. THEY LOOKED HORRID. I asked the gal at the LQS and she told me that I am missing blue. Never even dawned on me that I had left out an entire color from a scrappy quilt. That's when I learned to add all sorts of colors and values to my stash.

Same here. Take care of your community. The benifits are amazing.

ps: please, this is not meant to be contentious.

What people are trying to tell you - if you don't want to use them yourself - please don't trash them.

Although I can relate to the "I don't want to deal with them" syndrome.

Wow, that is nice that you will give them to others in your community. Also remember there are members on this board that would love them and will pay for the shipping. Have fun!
