I have been very Bad! I went online this morning and browsed the sale at Fabric.com....An hour later i checked out with a 37.00 total after the coupon code and got Free shipping. So i now have over 10 yds of fabric coming and i have no idea what i am going to do with it yet. Santa will be SO MAD! I keep telling myself..."no more fabric" I have absolutely NOOOOOOOO willpower. I think i need to have DH take away my laptop for a few months. I hope i am not the only one with this "illness"
I am starting to scare myself. Any advise on how to stop being so compulsive?????????

donnajean 12-10-2010 09:23 AM

I've taken a break for even looking - sale or no sale. It's going to be a tough winter with a frigid Dec. & gas prices going up by the day.

Go in your sewing room and start organizing your fabric and all your scraps..... And you will feel like you just purchased more fabric, At least it keeps Me from buying more.
I know how compulsive I am too, but I just keep telling myself enough is enough!

Obsessed 12-10-2010 09:24 AM

I have no advice. Santa will be skipping my house as well. I'm a ConnectingThreads.com junkie, although fabric.com has its share of my money as well...

BellaBoo 12-10-2010 09:24 AM

After the fourth box from Connecting Threads came this last week, my DH said he should think about buying some stock in the company. LOL.
BTW, the fabric samplers I bought for 50% off from CT are so nice! I have no plans for any of the fabric, just a great sale price that couldn't be passed by.

mommamac 12-10-2010 09:25 AM

If you run out of room my address is ..... LOL

MrsM 12-10-2010 09:49 AM

I have started to delete the fabric shops e-mails before I can read them.

AgapeStitches 12-10-2010 09:59 AM

There's room for more in my sewing room...how to fill it up...maybe I should rent some storage space?

Prism99 12-10-2010 10:01 AM

I have to just not look. That way I don't buy.

Yep that's me, delete quickly before I have the chance to view what is on sale.

It is sad though. But financially, it will have to wait awhile.

CraftsByRobin 12-10-2010 10:57 AM

I wish I could do that ... but can't ... can't even finish projects I've started ... but I am blessed to be alive and well :)

Izaquilter 12-10-2010 11:01 AM

This is going to sound strange but I was put on a new medicine that helped me stay awake, Nuvigil. It is like a speed. I run around & get a whole lot of nothing done but I found I did spend so much more money on internet than I had before I started taking this med! So I am trying to curb my buying while 'under the influence". DH doesn't really complain tho. I'm pretty good compared to some of the wives the guys he works with are. I've heard of them having a charge card & running it up to $10-20,000. I won't use a charge card thank goodness!

Cyn 12-10-2010 11:13 AM

I can't help. I do the same thing!

klgreene 12-10-2010 11:33 AM

I fully understand. I haven't ordered any fabric for about 10 days now. Everything I've ordered is in. I keep telling myself, you don't need any more fabric. But, I keep looking.....My New Years Resolution is to use up what I have. So can I place just one more order???????

Quiltforme 12-10-2010 11:35 AM

I fill my cart then leave the site with the satisfaction of shopping but not paying!! I finally had to hide my card for a few days to keep me honest!

craftybear 12-10-2010 12:59 PM

go into your sewing room, and pretend you are at a shop and buy buy buy, you will be surprised what you find in your shop that you forgot about

Have fun!

I do this too! I have lots of fabric that isn't getting used yet. I really don't need more!

I do fantasy orders and have the thrill of shopping on line for all the pretty fabrics and threads. I empty my cart and save a ton of money.

Tink's Mom 12-10-2010 01:07 PM

I was even worse...Fabric.com had a great sale and my total was $143 after coupon. Santa, I can explain...fabric prices are going up and I know that I'll never see such good prices again. Think that will work?

madelinkk 12-10-2010 01:11 PM

Just say "no!".

If you find a cure, please share!! I am trying to put a leash on my own fabric purchases. DH drew the line after 15+ yds last week from e-bay. The fabrics are beautiful though & even he has to say I really got good deals!! I paid $3.25 yd for 8 yds of Christmas prints & got 7yds + for another $20.00 approximately. That was a stash builder with all types of fabrics & a lot of various colors. All is incredible & I'm thrilled with it all! DH says I must rest for a few wks after this last quilt is finished & all these new fabrics are calling to me...LOL!

ann clare 12-10-2010 03:42 PM

I would say that Santa came early. Enjoy.

That sound like a good idea. I'll have to try it. I keep vowing not to buy anymore, but I can't resist a sale.

Ditto this! Just enjoy. Sounds like you got some good deals.

Nancy S. 12-11-2010 05:09 AM

I am the same way. I just straightened my sewing room again trying to figure out where to put more fabric and I am not finding any but I sure like to buy, buy, buy. Especially if I see sale, sale, sale. I try and limit but it is so hard. Yep New Years Resolution loose weight, you probably thought I was going to say no more fabric. ha ha got ya!!

twospoiledhuskies 12-11-2010 05:10 AM

Buttttt, it's so much fun to be bad!!!!!! I have years and years of experience in this area. My DH attempts to tell me not to do this........ he knows I'm going to do it anyway. He just sighs :D :D

Julie in NM 12-11-2010 05:15 AM

Same issue with me. No more room, but the desire for new is strong. This forum has a moitorium post..not buying fab for a year! I joined and so far for two weeks been good. Just like going on a diet. Planning a move in spring and really need to get rid of stuff.

I really need to reorganize my stash so I know what I have. All in containers but several are messed up so to say.

eiltcoq 12-11-2010 05:24 AM

Bella Boo, I love ALL of the DH's comments. I would love to hear from others. Mine doesn't say anything about my fabric shopping. Eiltcoq.

peppermint31 12-11-2010 05:48 AM

several times I filled out an online order but then I just didn't check out

JuneD 12-11-2010 06:01 AM

I am so glad I'm not the only one with this problem. There are only 2 quilt stores near me, and a Joanne's about 35 miles away, but with winter here and snow on the ground, I don't get out as much to buy more fabric. Of course, there are other avenues to fall back on. A couple of weeks ago I did reorganize my fabric as Brenda suggested, and I must admit, it let me see just how much fabric I do have. My DH is a real trooper though. When he sees more fabric coming through the front door he just grins at me and shakes his head. So, with him in mind, I've taken a vow not to buy more fabric. (Does that mean I can buy a new purse instead??)

qwkslver 12-11-2010 06:10 AM

I have had days like that too. If I don't have money I can throw around I just delete the emails and get on with it. I know I really don't need anything usually. I was about to order this week when I opened another email and found out the toy fund from the town I am from (Pineville, West Virginia) had been robbed of all their toys so I sent the money to them instead. It's a struggle not to click on all those emails.

fidgety 12-11-2010 06:14 AM

I have not bought any fabric latley but......... I sure miss finding all thos packages coming to my mail box......... no matter whether it is fabric or patterns I still love it when I get packages..... It is xmas time... be good!! lol

Mona Marie 12-11-2010 06:21 AM

I use up fabrics from my shelves the go look into a tote and get more out. New fabrics all the time!!
