Help! I dug out a quilt (king size) that I started two years ago. I don't have enough fabric to finish the top. Either I used some of it, didn't buy enough in the first place, or lost it among the rest of my stash. I have enough for about 58 inches, but not the 95 inches I need. What can I do? it is a bargello type sew as you go.

Don't know what to tell you about your not having enough fabric. That has happened to me, and I don't remember what I did.

But welcome to the board from a Minnesota born Missourian.

Welcome! I have never done a bargello so I can't help much. Would it be possible to turn it into a queen?

Maybe just do a smaller quilt in the original design and add borders?

spinnergs 08-11-2010 06:28 PM

Maybe post the fabric and ask for anyone here to check their stash and share?

Think lap quilt?

Post a picture of the fabric in Members Buy/Swap/Trade section, someone may know where you can find it or have some to sell you :D:D:D

I would post like amma says, you can post on MAIN too, just include a picture of what you need. I did that once, I used the fabric for some other project, forgetting it was for a UFO. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

You too... sometimes I'll start thinking enough then oops!! can you pop a boarder on and go w/new shading ??
Remember no Quilt Police, 58 not a bad size for a lap quilt!!
Good Luck and Welcome :)

Welcome aborad, Please post a picture the fabic you need maybe some one here has it and is willing to sell it to you. You will find that many here are willing to help.

Thank you for the ideas. I got most of my fabric at an outlet so I don't know if it is available any more. I'll just use up all the fabric I do have and see how far it goes. It may have a very wide border. I can take off some of the top and bottom and reuse the pieces if the border will be wide. The only problem with that is the strips are all different widths in the bargello.

When it happened to me, more than once I'm embarrassed to say, I substituted a similar looking fabric.

bearisgray 08-12-2010 11:07 AM

If we saw it,we might be able to help.
