NOW I see...

I've only been quilting about a year. Have a Janome mc6600P. I kept wondering what the big deal was about quilting a full-sized quilt on it because the two big quilts I've done weren't bad. I must have used Quilters Dream batting on those, because now I'm doing an 80x80 with Warm & White. Geez, what a heavy hard "wrassling" match...I was going to do a lot of quilting on this-I love this top & a member here was kind enough to send me the pattern when I was looking for it. Stitch in the ditch is all this baby is gonna get now. Wow

Yes, I think that's probably one of the main lures of having a long arm -- no wrassling. :) (And the other is probably, no basting.)

yep, try to start in the middle and work out. one section at a time. Great quilt!

Your quilt is so beautiful! Yes, that W&N can be a wrestling match and not squishable like the QD. Hope you have the energy to do a little something special in the white parts....

The baskets were done first and then, I just finished a king size on my Viking Ruby using the embroidery machine part to do the quilting.

I love your top!

I like stitch in the ditch piecing!

W&N is definitely stiffer than Quilter's Dream. I still hand quilt with it though. Sorry for your troubles.

Mdegenhart 08-24-2014 06:35 PM

It is LOTS thicker & heavier.. The unopened Queen one I still have will get used for throw sized quilts. QD is probably more suitable for our climate anyway.

There is a new sewing spot close to me that gives a lesson then lets you rent time on a long arm. I so want to try it.

Bearisgray, I like SID quilting too, but I really want to do something with all the white.

lfstamper, thank you!
