What do you think about this for OBW blocks?

c joyce 01-24-2011 08:59 PM

WOW the colors are gorgeous. Please post some of your blocks as soon as you have them cut.

I'm just developing an interest in the OBW, but I think this fabric would be great! Are you planning on using it?

squilter 01-24-2011 09:02 PM

Thinking about purchasing it, but want to make sure it would work. I have a OBW book coming in any day.....WooooHoooo!

amma 01-24-2011 09:06 PM

If that is a large print, it would be perfect :D:D:D

Snorky Lvs2Quilt 01-24-2011 09:09 PM

I like that! Should make a fabulous OBW. Can't wait to see it finished.

sewwhat85 01-24-2011 09:13 PM

wonderful

squilter 01-24-2011 09:24 PM

Okay, I have to have it.

Qbee 01-24-2011 09:31 PM

I know it has to have the right number of "repeats", etc. so you would just need to check that but the fabric is BEAUTIFUL!!

FQ Stash Queen 01-24-2011 09:32 PM

No experience with OBW yet, but sure want to see that one finished. Please post it.

squilter 01-24-2011 09:33 PM

Couldn't tell the repeats, but ordered 5 yds. on closeout for $3.99 yd.

IMHO, it should be fabuolous! I am eager to see how the blocks turn out.

k3n 01-25-2011 02:41 AM

I agree with amma that if it is a largeish print it should work really well. BTW when I order fabric online for OBW, I find various sites are pretty good at answering an email asking how long the LOF repeat is... for future ref. But 5 yards should be plenty, my guess is that it's a 12" or 16"...

Japonica 01-25-2011 02:57 AM

Ok, I am new, what is OBW?

Hi Japonica. It stands for One Block Wonder and is one of the techniques to make a kaleidoscope quilt. Have a look here at the Topic List, half way down is the heading One Block Wonder etc... and you'll find an explanation of the terms and information on the books available and so on. Click on the topic title and it will take you to a list of Picture topics where members have posted their finished tops and quilts. http://www.quiltingboard.com/virtual_section_list.jsp

Thank you!

feffertim 01-25-2011 06:36 AM

perfect fabric for an OBW, just check the size of the repeats

ShowMama 01-25-2011 06:43 AM

Ooh, I have some of the same fabric and hadn't figured out what to do with it. OBW sounds great! I found this fabric at my LQS on the sale table and just couldn't pass it up because I love all the bright colors.

I bought the book but haven't tried a OBW yet, so I think I'll hang back and see how your blocks look before I commit. :-) But I bet they're beautiful.

nwm50 01-25-2011 07:04 AM

Interesting ! Different from the usual, bet it would be more colorful too!
