I found a video using these hoops somewhere from a site suggested on this board. When I went back to the site (I thought) it was on, I couldn't find it. Does anyone know of these, or have you seen this video?

Thank you butterflywing that is what I was looking at. I don't think I would have ever found it. I had searched using the work octi-hoop and nothing came of it at any site. I must not have put in the right info. Thanks for your info. Have you ever used these? :?:

i never even heard of them, but they do look like they have promise. let us know if you decide to try. btw, i didn't search on the board. i searched in my computer search window. on the board, you never know what the thread was called.

I saw this too. I'm reluctant to spend the money she wants for them, and they only come in a kit... I just want to try the hoops, I didn't want a whole bunch of other stuff with it.

i think you can do the same thing using a sheet of plastic wrap with your design on it. pin that to the top of your sandwich. use one of the horseshoe-shaped open "hoop"s. they have rubber on the underside that should allow you to move the quilt around. or - once you draw your design on clear plastic wrap and pin it in place - why can't you just use quilter's gloves with the little rubber bumps?

this actually looks more complicated than it needs to be.

i think inventors deliberately make things complicated so you think they're special and then charge lot, when something simple will work. have you ever seen them in use?

I only saw the video using them, and it also looked like they didn't have any kind of pressure foot on, which if it worked would sure help about seeing the design. I probably won't buy it though, kind of pricey. That's the way with new products I guess.

What an interesting idea...I do like the way the handles are moveable and the way that you grip them... :D:D:D

For many years sewers have used their machines with out a presser foot for embroidery work, ribbon work, and other techniques :wink:
Sewing with Nancy had a whole show on this, and she made the most beautiful flowers out of ribbon :D:D:D

sharon shaumbers has a rubber-type ring that moves the quilt around. there's a video on youtube. i don't remember what it's called, but it doesn't have any extra parts. it's its on thing. you have to buy it from her.
