Well, I just have to write about the time I have had using up some of my crumb stash.

I have been keeping pretty much all my scraps and today I decided it would be fun to let my little daughter decide what to do with them- she has a great imagination and loves playing with my scraps.

So she starts laying them out in very ambitious patterns and I am rapidly realising that there is a need for structure in putting this thing together, and how on earth will I manage (plus, her imaginary friend, who was the actual client, didn't like all the scraps I had- some of them were too dull for him as yellow is his favourite colour)

Anyhow, it started off as a little house and as I was trying to get the roof on, she wandered off to watch Barney, leaving me using up lots of iron and lots of thread trying to bring it all together. When she reappeared she thought her imaginary friend would like it, but she had to check first. There was no point me asking because I can't understand a word he says. She also had to trim all the (many) threads very carefully, because he really does not like those either, and who can blame him.

By the end, you needed a strong imagination to see that there was a house in there, which turned out not to be an issue as DD spontaneously decided that one particular fabric should be facing a certain way because the bugs were cute, so suddenly it is not a house at all but hanging on its side and it didn't have to be anything at all.

She brought it off for imaingary friend to nap under.

I needed a nap myself, and concluded that I am not cut out (ha ha!) to be a crumb quilter. I went through the rest of my scrap stash and trimmed what I could use easily and binned the rest- whew! That was an experience which was fun, but not enough fun to ever do again.

Is there anyway we can see a picture of this creative quilt your DD and her friend came up with. It sounds like an adventure was taken.

Oh, what a sweet story! All my DGs are grown up and no GGs yet. There are no little ones around anymore. I belong to a group of ladies that visit the women's prison. The is one young lady that has a 14 month little boy who I think needs a blankie, so am thinking about making him one. Children keep you young.
