Oh dear, binding problem

I have all the FMQ done on my quilt and I squared it to add the binding. Where I stitched the sashing before doing the quilting, the quilt edge advanced just a little bit. Now usually I do a plain border and 1/8 to 1/4 doesn't matter but I thought 9 patch cornerstones would look cute between the sashing. Opps, makes a big difference now! I am going to have to try and add the binding and hope that it isn't too noticeable. RATS! I am going to use Charismah's machine binding with flange and hope the flange disguises it.

Well I tried the binding with the piping and after sewing one side decided it looked too busy. Spent a while taking it out with Jack the Ripper. I opted for a plain binding that I sewed on using my walking foot and hand stitched it to the back. It is done and looks nice except a few ripples along the sides. Now I am pondering, rip the binding all off and ease in some of the quilt edge as I pull the binding taut or try blocking it and see what happens. Has anyone had any luck dampening the quilt, blocking it and have the quilt edge lay flat?
