Here I sit, only 150 miles away from home, in a nice little courtesy apartment for a week. The purpose of the trip is to help teach at an youth environmental day camp. The “work” day is 0800 'till 1700. I brought everything I need to keep a quilter happy for the week. I am set-up with two suitcases filled with fabric; cutting, pressing and sewing stations and all the necessary tools to perform the customary jobs at each; printer/scanner and a computer loaded with EQ; internet access, albeit a slow dial-up, so I can stay in touch with the board; adequately stocked fridge and cupboard.

So, with provisions for a personal mini retreat, why would I be frustrated? No yellows in the stash. I lean in the direction of contrast with most of my designs. I had several in mind when I packed. Even with the softer pastels, I like to throw in a few spots of contrast to give that pop. Now, I'm going bland. My conceptual, double size, Spring Fling, is being reduced to a single with two blocks, an Irish Chain and a simple Nine patch. in pink and green. The purples just don't look right without the yellow, so they went back into the suitcase.

A tool fabric for my carpenter pal was fussy cut, and lattice calculated, but no yellow for the stars in the lattice. It got packed. The jungle print for the table cloth set, for my friends in Germany, still perplexes me a bit, but it will need yellow. Repacked. Another option in the bag is a beautiful bat print of reds and oranges with lot's of black. The designs for that are great, but again, I need a golden for the twinkle stars in the lattice.

Now that I've ventilated, eaten an omelet, and coughed up a bucket of pollen, I guess I'll go back to bed and dream up some more designs. Perhaps I should focus my thoughts on all the vintage machines which are going on CL this week as folks busy themselves with Spring Cleaning. They're popping up like measles, I'm here, and they are there, A blessing in disguise though, as I have had a relapse of that Italian disease, Myfundsarelow.

I see what you mean! Hang in there, it's only a week!

Relax. That is the key. Spend time with paper listing what you need and dream of shopping in your stash or the LQS. It is amazing how much time it will take.

The week will pass quickly, they always do!

Any thrift stores where you are staying? What do the draperies look like? (JK on that one) There always seems to be that one little item that makes the best paved plans come to a screeching halt. Sorry that happened. I took a trip last year double checking to make sure I had all of my yarn for an afghan I had been working on. When I got to my destination, I realized I had failed to pack clean undies! I hate that disease, Myfundsarelow too.
