Okay here's my problem, I have a bobbin or needle or both issue, will try to add pictures. But what is happening is either on or both of the threads are loose. I have tried changing the tension and it hasn't worked. Should I try a different size needle? or use a different thread for the bobbin? I do know that the weight of the thread is different than what I normally use so that could be the problem. Oh and I also changed up length of the stitch also. So I couldn't get anything done last night and I raging mad. :evil: :twisted:

I had a similar problem. Have you got a computerised machine. Have you taken the bobbin case out to clean your machine? I took mine out and put it back wrong and then broke the needle because it punctured the lower case which holds the bobbin. Had to buy a new bobbin case, but that didn´t work because I had messed up the timing on the machine.

If you have two different weights of thread on your machine that could be a problem. Have you changed your needle? On computerised machines they get very fussy as to whether you have a sharp needle or not.

Rethread it totally, if none of that works, I dunno. Mine is having the timing reset because that is what is causing the lower thread to be really loose.

Try Cleaning out the bobben case Alot of dust and treads get in there. And it is good to change your needle every 8hrs of sew time. and if that dose not help change thread.

Is bobben drop in or under? if under dose the bobben fit in a case that has a screw that ajust the tension. If so the screw might be striped. Or Loose.

Oh dear your baby is under the weather :( , might be your thread, did you tried using your regular thread again to see if it still does that? If you did and it still does that, when was the last time you had your machine serviced?? Also make sure that both the top and the bobbin threads are the same. Try not to mess with the tensions because it will be hard to get it back to the way they need to be.
If you have checked all the normal things like the thread, the needle,the bobbin is filled nice and tight, you checked there is no dust bunnies under where the bobbin goes and your tensions are where they need to be and is still acting up then your baby needs to see the doctor. :( :shock: :cry: :roll: :?

Oh thank you I'll check the bobbin case and change out the needle. As for services heck the machine isn't a year old yet so I hope that's not the problem. See I told the hubby I need a really good machine. lol I have a drop in bobbin, oh and my machine is a brother cs6000i like Bevangers I just know the weight of the thread is different from what I normally use which is all purpose thread this is that veragated thread really pretty stuff. Oooh, Renee, I feel for you, I have just had an unexplained 'episode' with me new machine, it kept jamming and I had no clue what was wrong. I basically changed EVERYTHING...bobbin, needle, thread, cleaned it all out, and then it was ok. I really hope you get your problem sorted as easily as I did.

Thanks everyone I was just baffuded (spelled wrong) yesterday. Who know the weight of the thread might be an issue and I need different needles. I just don't know. I hate that.

Did your thread break right before this started happening? Rethread from the beginning. This has happened to me, right after thread breaking and I just rethread it, but sometimes it's not between the tensioners. I start from the beginning and it's fine. Hope you find the problem.

Renee-were you free motion quilting when you were having problems? Sometimes I have problems with my machine if I am using a different kind of thread and I am free motion quilting.

I recommend rethreading your machine (and the bobbin) with thread you usually use and try just sewing a normal seam and see how your bobbin acts. If it is still messing up, then you may need to have your baby checked. If you have been doing a lot of sewing, it may need to be serviced more than once a year. If it is sewing just fine, then change just the bobbin and see how it sews, then the top thread, etc-changing (and then sewing) just one thing at a time and see if you can then figure out what it is that is making your machine not work correctly.

I changed my stitch setting to zig-zag once and forgot to change the foot-when I started sewing I "jammed" my needle onto the foot and it threw off the timing in my machine--it messed up my tension and was a costly mistake to repair. The repair man told me I should hang a photo of my credit card over the button to switch to zig-zag so I would remember to change the foot next time!!

I had the same problem and found that my bobbin was wound too loose. If I go too fast when winding the bobbin it doesn't wind tight and then I get the loose thread underneath.
It's hard to tell when the bobbin isn't wound tight so try pulling on the tread and you'll be able to tell if it's wound right.

I had a similar problem with my Bernina and the solution was that, even though I've been sewing for 50 years and on this machine for 3, I forgot to put down the pressure foot. I kept just repeating all the wrong steps - finally, I shut the machine off, rethreaded it, cleaned everything, went back to the usual thread I used before changing to the current one, and then realized that the step I was missing was putting down the pressure foot. When all else fails, though, take it to your dealer.

My machine is a drop in bobbin, it is a kenmore......the bobbin thread has to be going in the right direction.....it never made a difference before....I keep forgetting it,,,and about 50% of the time I have to flip the bobbin :roll:

About all my problems with the stitching is either the machine is threaded wrong (rethread starting from the very first thread guide) or threads & lint caught in the bobbin case.
It's much easier to rethread and clean the bobbin case first.

I'm one of those that can break any sewing machine in 10 minutes or less - I now do all my quilting by hand. When I see problems like this pop up, I'm sorry for the quilter, but glad I don't have those problems. I guess in olden days I'd have been one of those passing a broken-down Model T yelling "Get a horse!" (Not really!)

This justed happened to me and I called the service people they told me to take it in, I'm still with out my machine, after cleaning and changing needle I had to tighten my tension. Everytime I wound a new bobbin(very clean, that wasnt the issue) I had to take my bobbin cassing out and tighen the screw each time, this machine isnt even a year old (babylock esante). So when I find out what the problem was I will tell you. I hope it's just that I might need a new casing

Just an added thought: to clean the machine, I found the canned air is great. I take my machine outside once in a while and spray the heck out of it.

Thank you all but I ended up with multiple issues and I have fixed the problem.

1. My darning foot has a nick errrrrrrrrrr
2. This thread sheads alot so alot of cleaning inside errrrrrrr
3. Something with the bobbin wasn't right also errrrrrrrr

Changed out the bobbin, rewound, going to get a new darning foot and start praying all works well from now on. lol

1 week after I got my janome 1600P the timing went crazy and I was sewing stitches just like yours! :wink: So, I took it, he fixed it and my baby is perfect! That also happened a lot on my kenmore and the sewing machine guy said all the things that the wonderful quilters have already told you! If none of that works, you need to take her in! Good luck!
