I just wondered why if Kenmore is made buy Janome why everyone buys Janome?
Is it for the features?
The support?
The price?
I have sewn on a Janome and LOVED it.. It really isnt in my budget so I just wondered if I should consider a Kenmore

I had never heard that before. I know someone makes them because Sears doesn't but I had never hear that Janome makes them. Good to know.

It was on at least one thread before that Kenmores are made by Janome and just a cheaper version. I only know what I have read.

Kenmores are made to the same specs. as Janome machines but as to the reason one would buy a Janome over a Kenmore....ever try taking sewing or quilting classes through Sears? Your local dealer will give you much more support, lessons and service than a Big Box Store.

Elna, Janome and Kenmore are made by the same manufacturer and have been for about 4-5 years now.
Just like with the old RCA-Zenith tv's the manufacturer takes each machine and puts a different label on it. There are different models that end up being exclusive to each label! The Kenmores are just as good as the others, but it depends on if you have a local dealer or not for the other two. Sometimes Kenmore is all a person has local. They use what they have I suppose. Or maybe they do not know about the Kenmore's being made by the same CO. I know it made me happy as the feet fit all 3 makes and I have a Janome and a Elna!

I have been sewiing since high school so I guess that would be about 45 years or so and I have always owned and sewed on Kenmores and I just love them. I have never had any serious problems with them. Nothing I couldn't fix myself.I have 2 sisters and we all sew and it was required to learn and know how to take them apart and put them back together before we left home. I am on my third Kenmore and I bought it in 94 or 95. It is not in a cabinet I have a vintage one in a cabinet and it is a metal one and a workhorse. I love them. I also have a brother embroidery machine and a vintage White in it's original cabinet but I always use my Kenmore.

Consider autos: Ford, Mercury and Lincoln all by the same company but with a few more bells, whistles and higher quality material with the higher priced vehicles. Same kind of thing with sewing machines. Babylock and Brother are made by the same company, just offer different features. It all boils down to what are you comfortable with. I personally wouldn't have a Bernina if you gave it to me since I have had really bad experience with the 440 and the new "it can do it all" 830. Others swear by them. I feel the same way about Viking as the Designer Diamond I've used frequently is a high priced lemon!

I have had a kemore for many years and love it!

Buy the Kenmore. It is what you can afford, and you can choose the one that has the features you want. My everyday sewing machine is an older Kenmore, and cannot be beat for reliability.

Buy the Kenmore. Sears doesn't have the higher end of the Janome line in Kenmore machines, but the ones they do carry are tried and true work horses.
