Your story mad me chuckle this evening. At least you had a result with the 25% off offer.
I'm sure your not alone, we all get our days, dates mixed up. Even me.
I have only been quilting for about 7 months, I joined a local group who meet once a month in town. Last November at the meeting they decided to have a little pre Christmas celebration for our meeting in December. Non alcholic drinks, nibbles etc.
As usual I turned up at the December meeting, like you laden down with bags of all the necessary nibbles & drink. I walked towards the table where everything had been laid out, started taking my items out of the bag. Our organiser tapped me on the shoulder & said "Tisha what are you doing". I replied just adding my contribution to the table. Oh no she replied, you don't have to contribute, some of the monies made from our subscriptions etc have been used for this evening.
Well I wanted the earth to open up & swallow me, I was so embarassed!
The ladies still pull my leg about it even now!
Well I hope you enjoy your class next week, what exactly are you making. I have recently tried pp for the first time & I love it.
I shall think of you next week.

I know what you mean there were about 10 ladies in the store but each one was so gracious about the whole thing I just cracked up and told them I was so excited about the class I was early on purpose and was spending the week in the store...haha...not sure exactly what we are making but two of the sweetest ladies came to me while I was trying to rid my red face and took me around the shop and proceded to show me everything I would ever need to quilt....one of them told me about a gal online named Carol Doak and that shes got a fabulous paper piecing DVD that explains everything so easy so I checked her out and sure enough it looks like something worth the $20. investment she said she watches it often to help her with a piece that shes having difficulty with she also told me once she started paper piecing that she loves it so much thats all she does and her friend agreed.....

That reminds me of me. I was going to a party, made some food to bring. When I got there, the hosts answered the door in their jammies. OOPS wrong day.
It was the day before.
Too Funny

quilter1962 06-13-2008 03:34 PM

Yes I've been informed Carol Doak is the pp Queen, have to say I haven't seen any of her publicatons etc. The piece we did was a Kaleidescope cushion cover/ placemat. I can email it to you if you like, pm me your email address if you want it.

Isn't it great to be blonde and have an excuse for when we make mistakes?

My worst "blonde" moment was when I couldn't get my stereo to work and asked my brother to look at it. After fiddling with it for a while, he figured out the problem. He took hold of the cord and with great patience said; "Celeste, you have to plug the thing in."

My younger sister has a good one too. One year while I was away at BYU -Hc she sent me a package for my birthday. I was more than a little surprised at the wrapping, but the card explained: Sorry about the wrapping, I was in a hurry and thought it looked pretty. It wasn't until too late that I realized it said "A wedding unites two lives, two loves."!

I think we have all had these moments, it is soooo much better when we can laugh them off and share them with others :D :D :D I have had waaaaay to many of these moments to list

Glad it turned out well anyway.

Another great thing about your "accident" is that you have a week to get better and be off that Nyquil, so you'll be able to remember more at your class! Glad to hear the store owner was in better spirits (how could she not be seeing all your newly purchased tools and then the joy all the EXTRA new things you bought! :D

sewnsewer2 06-17-2008 04:26 PM

Don't feel bad, once when I was working 2 jobs (in my younger days) I had taken a nap and when I woke up, I thought it was morning and went to the wrong job. I wondered why they were closed all of the sudden

But then, I'm a blond too!

sandpat 06-18-2008 05:03 AM

Oh I love it! I'm a blond too and my finest moment came when my car wouldn't start. I called my brother to drive 20 miles to come get me...He hopped in to pull the hood handle...The car was not in neutral  He very quietly got out and drove the 20 miles back home.  Yet...he still speaks to me today :D

Oh yeah! I did something like that! I think I blocked it! Luckily I eventually realized what the problem was. I waited until they fiddled with the car more, and the next time the guys (yes, plural! I think there were three puzzling under that hood) said to try to turn it on, it did! I gave them tons of Kudos them drove off into the sunset!

:D :D :D Good thing we can laugh about those "accidents" now. Heres my "best" 1. Back before my DH & I were married, we showed horses together. He owned the horse trailer and took it to have it painted to match his truck (ok...its a horsey showey thing or was at the time). He brought it back to the barn after being without it for a month all shiny and pretty. One morning, I parked my car in front of it and went to visit and get my coffee. Shortly after, I got in the car to leave and very carefully...backed right into it. I got so upset, that I pulled forward, then while trying to put the car in P, I put it in R and backed into it again! By now...of course, I've drawn a crowd...so I pulled forward again..put the car in what I thought was P...leapt out...and you guessed it..the CAR backed into the trailer AGAIN! Now..I'm really upset..my future DH got in the car, pulled it away from the trailer and aimed it at the driveway..took a look at me..said..get in and pointed down the drive. BUT...turned out good...we just celebrated 24 yrs. together! Needless to say, he has been driving us for most of those yrs.

You are not alone. My girlfriend and her husband went to his company picnic that was and hour and a half drive last Saturday. Only to find out that it is this coming Saturday.

They found a new meat market that they really like. They came back with all kinds of sausage and jerky and steak. yumm.

Anyway, when something like that happens, it's always good to make the best of it. It sounds like you did.

Oh my gosh sandpat, so you hit it 4 times? That's funny now, but I bet at the time it sure wasn't.

Another "divine accident" for you. One of my friends helps her mother with her bills, personal business, etc. They live 4 or 5 hours apart, so daughter set mom up with a computer so they can keep in contact every day. Mom wanted to get set up on ebay and daughter thought that wasn't a good idea. So mom decided to have the other daughter get her set up. So then mom told my friend (daughter #1) that she had been on ebay and bid on a few things. It turned out that she had bid on and won 6 ice cream makers! My friend was so upset and was all bent out of shape and was trying to figure out what to do. I told her that her sister got her into this, let her sister get her out of it!

A couple of weeks later, I asked what ever happened with the ice cream makers. She said that her mom and the neighbor lady get together and make 6 batches of ice cream every week and take it to shut-ins.

So that turned out pretty good too. Mom and friend have fun making ice cream and shut-ins get weekly company. :D
