I want to make a OBW and have the fabric pick out and the repeat pattern does not go straight across the fabric. It is about 14and 1/2 inches and will this work for hexagons even if the repeat does not go straight across? I hope this is clear. in other words to explain, next to the cut edge I found a spot and the repeat is 6 and 1/2 inches lower on material and 14 and 1/2 over from the first one. Can anyone help to tell me if this will work? Thanks

Cute Buns here on the board may be able to help you - she has done a tute on the OBW here on the board and is awesome on them

But I am wondering if you are finding the true repeat - do you have a pic ?

I'm thinking you haven't gone far enough for the repeat...when I took a class on one block wonders our instructor showed us some fabric where the repeat was 24 inches I believe...and she showed us how some fabric had what appeared to be a repeat that was offset a few inches and we were to ignore those.

Your ruler is not on the repeat. If you look at the selvedge, you should be able to get a better idea because those color dots they usually print are going to be aligned with the repeat.

I think you are only halfway across the repeat. Looking at your last picture I can see it almost at the top.

OMGosh...really?!! I always wondered why those were there! :D

The repeat that I see is the Ace of Spades, I've outlined in red. You need six of pieces cut across the width of fabric, at the same spot, to make the OBW.

I see your repeat, it's nearly the entire length of your last photo.
On the left side, look at the 3 cards together, Ace of spaces, king of clubs and Jack of hearts...then go all the way up to the top and you'll see the repeat. Hope that helps.

Linda how nifty is that making red outlines on the photo!
