Hi everyone,

Well I'm looking to purchase one of the clover mini irons. There are several ones out there and sure which one I should get.

Please help me out. Which one do y'all think is best for us quilters?

P.S. Some on e-bay are saying "New and improved"

My Clover mini-iron is about 9 years old, so it is one of the original ones. I think the new ones look great, with the different sizes and shapes of ironing tips you can put on them, but I am not going to spend the money to buy a new one when the one I have works just fine. Besides, I don't use it very often.

Decide what you are going to use your mini iron for---then decide if you need all the extra tips. If not, then save yourself the money (and spend it on fabric!!)

I have the older style Clover iron myself and LOVE IT. I've no desire to get the newer one because the iron does all I need it to do. I do know someone that has the newer one, and paid the big bucks for it, and she used the iron tip the most.

In my opinion, the only drawback is there is no guard on the barrel. I didn't purchase a stand for mine because I keep it in a coffee cup when in use and with the handle sticking up I don't worry about grabbing the hot barrel.

I just got one and I love it. Just a plain jane one.

I have the Hobbico craft iron. I like it much better than the Clover iron. I also have the blue tile holder. I got mine at Hershey Quilt Odyssey, but here is a link to see what it is like.

I have one of the originals, too. The one Minda talked about looks like a gem, though.

i also want to know. i see them with different tips. some are small and slender and others are wider. which ones are more versatile? do you just leave it plugged in all the time? sounds expensive to do. now, i wait until i have a whole chain and press all at once.

One other question. The clover mini iron 2 comes with a small iron tip. Do you think if I go this way that I should get the larger iron tip?
