Oops I need help

I am laying out my top quilt middle and back. Getting ready to pin so I could sew it all together. Well I decided not to use batting but a wool blanket. Well as seen in photo it's to small. I have about 16 inches at bottom was wool blanket. Was cut that off and see it to one side to fill the spot but I am about 16x5 inches short. What do I do. I really want to use this wool blanket. This quilt will be used for camping and I need something warm on those cold night husband won't be enough lol.

What if I use part of the back for the missing part in the middle. I will have enough left to fill it in

whatever you use needs to be the same thickness as the blanket. You could get some batting about the same thickness - I'd apply it evenly on both ends of the blanket instead of putting it all on one end - again, to balance out the weight and thickness.

We used to use army wool blankets that my Aunt bought from Goodwill. Try some of the second hand stores. Maybe you can find an old wool blanket. If not, maybe a good thick fleece. Joann's has a big selection of fleece. Go and feel what might be the same thickness.

Thank you very much. I will do that.

Oops hubby just lost his wool blanket. Sacrifice he has to make for quilting he don't know about. I will use left of wool to make a blanket for baby to go camping with.

If you are using that wool blanket, maybe you should wash it first. It will really shrink. I have been camping too and know that blankets get dirty quick without you knowing it. haha I wouldn't want you doing all this work, wash the quilt after it is done, and be disappointed afterward. Good luck.

Oh thank you. The wool blankets I am using have been washed it what we used last yr to camp. Just now I will only have a blanket this yr. unless my brother sends me more. lol. I called him he is giving me six more to make my husband a quilt blanket with the wool and I will wash those

Army Navy stores are a source for wool blankets too.
