Opinions needed ~ Eagle panel quilt

This is where I am at ~ definitely not loving it, but I have purchased fabric twice because of changing my mind! :) I have to stick with it the way it is; but, what do you think of red for the binding? If not, do I need to add a block within the borders to add some more color? It is for my DH and he loves it, so I guess that is what matters ~ but I would really like to love it as well!

When I first saw it, before reading your remarks ... I thought 'needs red binding". Now I'm looking at it more and wonder if a yellow binding would be better. Suggest you audition both and see how you like it.

This will be beautiful what ever you use. Love it. BrendaK

this is the panel I have for our Quilts of Valor "sew-in" on Saturday. I hope ours look as nice as yours. I think I might try for the yellow binding

I vote for a red binding! Audition yellow and red and see which you like better!

I think it needs red. Maybe as piping between the borders

I think red would look really nice! Beautiful quilt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the red binding maybe with a small navy strip first???

I am with your hubby, I love it! I think I would like the grey as the binding. The red would match the middle but I think it would pull your eye away from the center. Grey would let the center be the focal point.

I would bind with the blue. Let the panel stand out! It is beautiful.

I think I'd go with blue but a shade darker than the border. I think red might pull your eye to the binding too much.

Thanks for all the replies :) Petthefabric ~ how do you add piping? There are so many things that I have already never done for this quilt, might as well add another one!

I'm sure I'll be back with more questions - :) :) :)

I'd try to explain but why reinvent the wheel. And a picture's worth a thousand words. The piping is added when the seams are put together. Susan K. Cleveland explains the application in her book Piping Hot Binding and has a video on YouTube.

I think the blue or the grey would be my choice. Red would pull eye from center and if you have one little wobble in it.... When it is quilted there will be so much action in the borders it will be wonderful.
