Has anyone heard of origami quilting? I've heard of it and even done some using paper but with fabric?... to make a quilt block?
In our guild, every month we have a project block to complete for a "show and tell" at the next meeting and the topic or theme for the January meeting is origami. And how in the world am I going to make an origami chicken block?? As if the stress of Christmas wasn't enough........ :? |

there is a book of folded origami blocks. My DIL gave it to me for a birthday -- mostly 3 dimensional flowers. Does a folded star count as origami??

I have a couple books on it but haven't done anything with them yet.

Wow would love todo this! Is it too hard?

Just bought the book Fantastic Fabric Folding from Amazon. I've only had it about a week, so haven't done anything yet, but I plan on doing it as soon as I get some UFo's finished. It looks pretty fun, pretty and something I could do. I just have got to get some of my other stuff done before I try.

I have a couple books on folded origami fabric items. Haven't gotten into them yet! But want to look into that When I "Have More Time!"

I started one (flowers) and its not hard as long as you are able to keep all the iron creases(fold lines) in them. I got my aunt started on one for her granddaughter.

I have used some folded blocks in quilts. It is very important to cut the fabric square EXACT and it helps me when I starch the square. Where you can fold a small piece of paper, it requires a larger piece of fabric because the fabric is thicker and has more give. If you want to fold a chicken, just try it. Follow the same sequence as with the paper. When it gets tricky, I often hold the pattern together with pins til the next fold.

I'm helping a friend with an origami shirt quilt. Very different.
