If I have this right in my head the thing about these are the bulbs.... So why not just buy the bulb. I realise the fitting on the ones for the OTT lites are different but you can get bulbs for normal lamps I use one on a floor lamp I have works wonders

The OTT bulbs are suppose to be truer brighter color, as opposed to regular bulbs or even the energy savers that are twisty

I bought a daylight bulb from the lighting shop...

I was looking at those too...they said they were the same as the Ott brands, only cheaper and they fit in a regular socket. I am going to try them next winter :D:D:D

The Ott screw in bulbs are about $10 and will fit where regular bulbs will fit. I have an Ott light and bought the bulb that said was the same as Ott but cheaper. It was a big difference to me. I stick with the Ott brand. The bulbs I bought years ago for much more then they are now, I paid about $30 per bulb, are still in use. I don't know if the cheaper price Ott bulbs are the same but I sure have gotten my money's worth from the ones I have. I use them over my vanity sink, in my sewing room ceiling light fixture and in our nightstand lamps. DH put one in his shop over his workbench and it's still burning and he forgets to turn off the light half the time.

I didn't know you could put an OTT light bulb in a regular socket! I'll have to try that. I've already bought a lot of OTT lamps, used my 50% off coupons from Michael's to get them.

My Ott light bulbs will not fit into a regular socket. They have a special end that only allows them to be used in Ott lamps. Some of the newer model lamps may permit this, but from what I have seen in the stores this is not so. You may be thinking of a Daylight bulb which I believe is not the same quality or clarity as the Ott.

I had an Ott bulb that lasted me 12 years. Three years ago I purchased the current bulb at JoAnn's on sale and ine extra just in case because I live so far from them. Can't go wrong with an Ott.

I bought a spare bulb for my Ott lamp, tried it to make sure it worked and it burned out as soon as I turned it on. Needless to say, that'll be a return to Michael's. Hopefully I get half-decent mileage out of the original bulb....

Check out www.ottlite.com for the bulbs that are available.

You have to buy the Ott bulbs that screw in a regular socket, not the Ott bulbs that have the pronged ends.
