Just curious if anyone here is planning on going to the quilt show in Paducah KY the latter part of April. My sister and I went 5 years ago but had to stay about 45 minutes away, so this time we jumped in with a tour that has booked rooms at the same inn that is hosting the show. Very anxious to be so close by and for the whole week. I'm prepared with empty plastic for spending and emply digital cards for my camera.

HI, No I am not going this year but have gone in the past. It is a wonderful show and not to be missed if one can do it. When I went I rented a car (there were four of us) and we visited Eleanor Burns store, Hancock's of Paducah, and many other vendors thru out the town. What a great experience. Some day I am just go back. The Quilt Museum is awesome. Marge in Pa.

Oh, that sounds like so much fun, wish I was closer. However, am going to the Pacific West Coast show in Seattle in August. My friend lives there and we take a bus trip w/her guild. Lots of things to see. :roll: :roll:

I keep hearing of Paducah. It's Paducah this, Paducah that. Tell me something, what is it that makes the place so special? Being new at this and on the West Coast I honestly don’t know. Is the show extra big or something?

I’m going to my very first quilt show today in Burbank, CA and am really excited.

Paducah qult show is huge, I mean mega. The whole town turns out for this quilt show. The downtown stores have quilts hanging from rafters, in the windows, on the streets, everywhere. The convention center is super mega with quilts everywhere. Even displayed around the pool. They have a Quilt museum almost across from the convention center, Eleanor burns has a shop pehaps a block away and has a tent in the backyard where she presents 2 shows a day. Even the mall which is a couple miles up/down the road is nothing but quilts. Hanging from the ceilings and vendors up and down the hall ways. Vendors are everywhere. Make a corner and you'll find another 25-50 vendors depending on the area. Two floors of quilts, quilts, quilts. This town lives for the quilter. Everyone is so nice and helpful, trolly bus takes you whereever you want. The vendors that can't fit into the center set up in the armory down the road. Hancock of Paducah is just a trolly distance away.

yes, Paducah is where it's at every April. When we attended in 2003, it was reported that 80,000 people had also attended that year. It's sponsored by AQS. Many big name teachers, authors and tv quilting folks are there. We met Kay Woods, and had books signed by many of the authors. They are doing demo's of their techniques and will answer questions from passerbys. The 'big' award winning quilts will be on display as well as charity quilts. Our tickets this time include the Ricky Tims Show and sneak-preview passes as well as the fashion show. Also a lecture by designer Caryl Bryer Fallert. I'm getting even more anxious just thinking about it. Paducah is referred to as " Quilt City USA "
