Can someone tell me if Palencia fabric is a good fabric to use for quilting? I saw it on sale for $1.97/yd at my local Walmart on Saturday, but wasn't sure whether to buy it or not. I'm fairly new to quilting and not sure of all the different types of fabric. Thanks!

Sometimes stuff at wally world isn't too bad. What you do is hold it up toward another person. If you can see them really easy, you might want to pass. Thinner stuff, lower thread count, will not last as long as you may want it too.

Not sure what Palencia fabric is. But you gotta do the touchy feely have a good look at it test. I always touch it, place my fingers underneath it to see if I can see my fingers it not then I pick it up and look at it to see if light comes thru it easy. Also check the end of the bolt for what the faric is make of. If it is not listed then it is an unknown fabric. Hope this helps.

Palencia fabric is part cotton and polyster I don't no what the percent of each is.

I love palencia fabric. I use it in quilts and also as backings for quilts. I make kitchen curtains with it and also have made Halloween costumes for my grandchildren with it. For the money, it's a steal. I have bought it at Joanns for almost double the money. They claim that it is a higher grade of palencia, but I see no difference.

Palencia is a brand name for broadcloth. It is a cotton polyester blend. It's good stuff for a lot of things.

I've used broadcloth before. It's not to bad to work with.
