Just saw a pattern I would like to purchase but it said paper pieced. I don't want to paper piece so what changes will I need to make. Hope this makes sense.

If it's a paper pieced pattern you're going to have a lot of difficulty with it, if you don't want to paper piece. Get a different pattern. It's not something you can really do without a ton of effort. Not worth it.

You could cut the pieces apart, add 1/4 inch to each piece...but believe me it would be a royal pain in the butt to do it that way. Paper piecing is known for the precision piecing it makes.

paper piecing is fun, try it!

Ditto what Crafty Bear said. I have been know to convert REGULAR patterns into paper pieced ones because I like it so much.

Have you looked to see if the pattern is available in a regular pattern ? What pattern is it ?

kwiltkrazy 07-12-2010 09:49 PM

I agree with crafty bear. if it says paper pieced it is awfully involved to traditional piece it.

I like to paper piece. I love the points and the intricate-ness(is that even a word?) of the blocks.

What block are you wanting to do? I've seen very simple blocks that are PP when you could actually sew regularly. If its not intricate then cut pattern apart, add 1/4" and go for it.

I agree with sewcrafty. It all depends on the individual pattern and on your individual sewing skill level.
