Hello all,

I inherited my mother's old Singer Featherweight. My grandmother had someone look at it to find out if it could be fixed. Whoever looked at it said nothing was wrong with it, it just needed a bobbin meant for that machine and a replacement bobbin case.

Does anyone know where I could get one, or how expensive it is?? I would love to get it in working order, but I know the machine is at least 4 decades old.

Any ideas??

Melissa

Hi Melissa this is Melissa, another Okie.

One of the online Fabric shops has parts for for featherweights but I cant remember which one! I will do some looking to see if I can find it. In the mean time have you Googled it to see what comes up?

There is a shop close to here that specializes in Featherweights - here's their website: http://thelittlered222.com/#

if you cant' find what you need from the above info, PM me for a guy out of Fort Wayne, IN...Mr. Edwards has fixed my machines before and mom has several that have needed TLC as well. I have an old singer portable from 1913 and he was happy to get a replacement part for me. He's affordable, reliable, and I have been pleased with the turn around time.

Wow...I cannot believe all of the responses!! Thank you all so much! When I took my little Janome in for her annual maintenance, I remembered that the guy who owns the shop collects vintage machines and parts. I'm waiting for him to call me back. If he doesn't have an idea, I'll start with the shop in Dunlap as I grew up pretty close to there.

Thanks again everyone!!

My sewing machine guy said that the bobbin case is 50.00 and they have them in stock. He also said that a clean/oil thing was 80.00. I'm still shopping around.

Thanks again, I'm starting on all your wonderful ideas now!

I believe the winner is 221parts.com.

My machine guy said 50.00 for the bobbin case and 12.00 for a set of 12 bobbins. HA! 221parts has bobbin cases for 31 and sets of 12 bobbins for 4.50. For just about every other thing my guy is very reasonable. It's strange that there is such a difference!

Thanks again everyone!

Melissa
