Check out 15 minutes of Play

She makes fabric out of her scraps and then cuts her pieces from that.

I've made two quilts for two of my granddaughters with lots of scraps. The squares are 12" finished, the sashing is white, and the corner stones are more scraps. One 2" cornerstone has eleven pieces in it, to give you some idea of how small I go.

So where is the "Oh My Gosh" quilt. Sounds like I would really like to see that one.

A long time ago, I took a huge bunch of small scraps and sewed them to adding machine paper, creating long pieced strips that are very scrappy. My intention was to use them as sashing but I never got the project done---another of my UFO's! It was easy and since I found adding machine rolls at Goodwill, very inexpensive.

I have done that with at least three quilts now, but instead of paper, I used trash fabric. Old bed sheets work wonderfully, especially the part that is almost starting to wear through. The outsides of fitted sheets are too heavy. They haven't worn away enough yet. I make the strips anywhere from 2 inches wide to 4 or even 5 inches wide. Smaller scraps go on the narrower strips. Then just sew all the strips together in random order. They turn out really cute.
