I am looking for a bag pattern using a piece of metal tape
measure as a closure. Any idea where to find one

Google or do Search on this site!
There must be at least 20 out there in cyber space!

Have fun!

This is a snap bag. We made them at Project Linus Winter Retreat last year. Love them. If you don't find one, pm me and I will try to scan and email mine to you.

Thanks for the links for the bag. This is what I was looking for.
I found a broken tape at a garage sale for a dime, so must try to make one.. I thought I found a treasure and the guy selling it
was sure I was crazy! But we were both HAPPY!

Haha! That's funny. When I was ready to make one my husband got excited and ran out to the garage and pulled a broken one out of his trash can.

Here's one I made:

That is neat! My sister thinks they would be neat for her
elderly patients to carry medical cards on trips to the clinic
since many of them have trouble with regular clasp or snap.
Also wonder about putting them in the walker bags I make
for the nursing home.... So many projects, so little time!

I found that the wider thicker Stanley metal tapes are the best. They really snap! The thin ones don't have enough bend strength to hold up. If scissors will cut the tape, it's not the snappiest one, it will take a pair of tin snips to cut the metal. I round the ends so I don't need tape over them.

after i made one of these , i realized [sp] that its. just a regular bag with the metal tape measure [cut one inch shorter that the top , i call it the hem, inserted into it.and sew up the side seam. you can make the bag any size you want.oh, cover up your metal tape good , i found in my husbands stuff, some trasnparent duct tape, and used that to cover the tape on both sides, this tape is wide enough to do it, so the tape won't cut into the material, and you can see the numbers that you see when you put the tape into the right side of the hem. did i explain it good enough!!!!!
