I was just wondering if any of you have seen Peggy Martin's quilts in person. She was our guest speaker at our guild meeting last night. Her quilts are fantastic. She does paperpiecing, but uses the quick strip method. So now I am thinking about trying paper piecing, which I swore I would never do!!

Yesterday I did my first paper piecing. I have done an oriental lantern quilt top and am making miniature kimono's out of the extra scraps to scatter on the back. I have done five, haven't decided if thats enough or to do seven. It is very fun once you get the technique down. I am using the Carol Doak method. Also next March I am going to a six day retreat in Texas where she will be teaching for 4 days a mariners compass class. I am so excited...

That's awesome that you will be going to a retreat that she will be teaching at. I wish I could have gone to Peggy's workshop. I checked out Carol's site. She has fabulous quilts as well. I found a pattern for an beginner block so I think I am going to try that one using Peggy's quick strip method.

That sounds like so much fun!!! I have yet to go on a retreat, but would love to someday :)

I'm going to thake the plunge after I get my personal quilt and a couple for a fundraiser done. I am starting with an easy one, then I'll try one that can be flipped all different ways. I am pretty excited about trying it.

It is nice in quilting there is the tried and true and then there is always something new to have an adventure with and to experience.. Quilting Adventures.com is the site that has different retreats available. I have never attended one either..I hope they will let me take and then post pictures..
