perfect circles any size!
was watching wisconson public tv and on sewing with nancy she took a flat thumb tack put it thru a piece of tape point up sticky side down and put it on the table. she put a square of fabric on the thumb tack measured from the needle to the tack moved the tack and started sewing. the fabric moved with the dogfeed and pivoted on the tack. then she cut following the sewing line. perfect circle made!! I just thought it was great and had share it with somebody! thanks all!!

at a workshop some years ago we did this and made circles about 5" round and used a long gathering stitch and cut about 1/4" outside the stitch. Then took a cd disk and gathered the fabric circle around it and pressed the edges and then machine appiqued them to background fabric. Made interesting and quick quilt blocks.
