You beat me, I recently found 4.
Colleen

wvdek 10-23-2010 08:19 PM

Beats my four!

np3 10-23-2010 08:21 PM

I have one that came with each of my 7 machines, plus 4 or 5 others that I just had to have. And I am always looking for them,.....sigh.....

wolfkitty 10-23-2010 08:26 PM

Maybe you're like me, where you keep misplacing them, so you buy another one, and that's how you got so many.

cjomomma 10-23-2010 08:26 PM

I find myself slowly getting there too!!

leiladylei54 10-23-2010 08:28 PM

Are you expecting to take out that many stitches. LOL

Quiltforme 10-23-2010 08:29 PM

Which one is your favorite???

Candace 10-23-2010 08:35 PM

I have two. Guess that make me an optimist:>

I have one or two at each machine and easy chair where I do hand work.

dellareya 10-23-2010 09:19 PM

I think you win the "seam ripper collection" contest.

gale 10-23-2010 10:29 PM

I have a lot too but I don't know where they all are. And when I need one, I need it right now. I just bought one today that is like your brown handled one next to the yellow one. I have several like that cream colored one on the end. I have a blue one that you don't have in that pic but I hate it. It has a little burr or something on the tip and it snags. I tried sanding it and it didn't work so I just quit using it. I think it's a dritz.

C.Cal Quilt Girl 10-23-2010 11:00 PM

Must be a variety thing, minute I loose one all are suddenly on vacation with it. :)

Try a emery board or nail polisher to knock off burrs, helps with pins that end up with a little burr also :)

EasyPeezy 10-23-2010 11:37 PM

I think you could use a few more:wink:...like the Fons & Porter or the other green one (can't remember the brand).

jitkaau 10-24-2010 12:22 AM

I have 4 of the examples you display there, and another 3 besides...(need one for every sewing box)...

patricej 10-24-2010 02:35 AM

according to the Law of Inverse Probability (if you're prepared to deal with it, it will not happen), you are optimistic. ;-)

Maybe that's why when I worry and am concerned about something it never happens but if I let it go... oh wow how something so small could dare be a problem. Absolutely love your law of inverse probability! I'm so relieved to be optimistic!

SuziC 10-24-2010 03:46 AM

I'm feeling good now....i only have two LOL

I have a couple but rarely use them. Those pointy things are awful, never use them. Occasionally use the surgical seam rippers, but usually use my fiskars scissors if I need to remove a seam.

Minda 10-24-2010 05:27 AM

I just counted and I have 7. I have one of the folding seam rippers and I love it. I never have to worry about losing the top.

NikkiLu 10-24-2010 05:42 AM

OMG - that looks like an operating room with all of the surgical instruments layed out! LOL

luvTooQuilt 10-24-2010 05:45 AM

I'm with you, I have alot of them too.. Its bothersome when they get misplaced so If i have a cupful I don't have to waste time searching for them when I'm sewing- and yes i do do Rip, Rip, Rip... but thankfully not every time!!!

Hmmm, maybe we just like notions..... Yup, that's my story and I'm stickin to it!!!

CarrieAnne 10-24-2010 05:49 AM

LOL, you just have an awesome collection going there!

Isn't the cap on the handle?

Fabaddict 10-24-2010 05:59 AM

I don't know how many I have, but they are all over the place - I think I even have one here at the puter desk. Ya never know when you will need one. LOL

mollymct 10-24-2010 06:03 AM

Ha!! I think you are an Optimistic Realist!!

deedum 10-24-2010 06:08 AM

I think they are a "just in case" tool to have! I vote optimistic!

sewTinker 10-24-2010 06:19 AM

beware: the quilt police will be coming soon to confiscate any and all rippers pocketed during sit 'n sews.

I had the same seam ripper for about 20 years. I was, needless to say, always hunting for it. One day, in 1999, while out and about with my son, he said, "let's go in here," and he proceded to walk me into a quilt shop (!!!) He led me to the ripper section. "it's time to buy a new one, mom."

So I did. And threw the old one away, even. It's the one I currently use. I do have a 2nd one that came with my bernina in 2000. It's my absolute favorite. so tiny.

they dare not try. in fact, i'll go so far as to say they had better not even think about it.

if i had to give up my ripper, i'd have to give up quilting.

fat chance of that.

watch for flashing batik lights in your rearview. at the first sighting, call us. we'll be there in a jiffy, rotary blades loaded and ready to come to your defense. ;-)

Char 10-24-2010 07:16 AM

OK! but which one is you favorite??

OMG yes it is LOL I so did not remember that, thank you!!!! LOL oh can not get over that LOL

KathyAire 10-24-2010 08:42 AM

If I gathered and lined up all of my glasses in my sewing room, I would have just as many as you do seam rippers. You may have the same problem with your rippers as I have with my glasses. I can never find them when I need them.

Scissor Queen 10-24-2010 09:03 AM

I must be an optimist. I don't even know where a seam ripper is! I know I have a couple but I never use them. I use my thread snippers if I have to take out a seam. I don't unsew the way most people do either. I just cut every 4th to 6th stitch on one side only and then pull the whole thread on the other side. I never rip down thru the middle of the fabrics.

CoriAmD 10-24-2010 09:16 AM

no.. just really prepared! LOL

ladyshuffler 10-24-2010 09:39 AM

Not quite there yet.............but maybe could outdo you before toooo long...who knows!

dkabasketlady 10-27-2010 08:06 AM

I thought I had a lot with my seven, but you beat me!!!

Prissnboot 10-27-2010 08:21 AM

Not pessimistic, not optimistic. Just prepared!

And doesn't it seem like the minute you throw something away, you end up needing it the very next week? Waste not, want not, that's my motto. Now to figure out what to do with all those darn scraps.......

chamby 10-27-2010 08:26 AM

oh, my some of these look like surgical knives.
