Hi, i am thinking about buying a floor model of the pfaff 2170 at my local pfaff dealer and would like to hear from any one having one and any comments on it. He wants $3000 and they will give one on one lesson. I don't know if this is a good deal or not???? sl

How much is a brand new, out of the box, machine cost?

I don't know they said that they were charging around $7000 a yr or so ago, but they have almost entirely gone over to babylock machine and they are much cheaper also they said that the moneymen have taken over pfaff and they don't know if they want to deal with that. This machine is just like my 2140 only has a embrodery unit with it and i will be able to use all my feet etc, but would like to know if anyone has had trouble with the machine or likes it. sl

Sorry, Shirley, can't help you with knowing anything about the machine. I've had Berninas for the past several years and love them. However, the price does sounds pretty reasonable. They should be able (and willing) to tell you how many actual sewing hours the machine has. For example, I know some of the machines at my Bernina shop get a real work out with lots of people trying the embroidery units, etc. And then the girls that work there will bring in stuff to do and use floor models. (I wouldn't purchase one of their floor models.....) Are they guaranteeing the machine at all?

Yes they are giving all the benefits of buying a new one and i like the dealer, and they are only 2o miles away so i can go and have lessons. i am just wondering if i will do a lot embroidery to pay for a machine. i am a quilter, but would like to have the option to embroidery if i want too,and the idea that i can use all my attachment with this machine, even if i don't get the bigger throat. I have a pfaff grand quilter also and have been happy with pfaff so far.sl

I think that once you experience the "magic" of machine embroidery -- you will be hooked. And then you can join my club of just sitting there in a trance and watching the machine do all the work :lol: :lol:

I got to work on a 2170 during an embroidery show for Anita Goodesign and they were really nice

I have a 2140 updated to a 2170 (same machine - just software updates). I LOVE it . My guess is that is a great buy if it comes with lessons and a warranty. I use mine for embroidery and recently did some piecing on it. The IDT is wonderful. Good Luck.

This sounds like a great deal...My dealer had the creative vision (8600 retail) for less than half...

Tks. for the infro, they are giving me a pkg of different stablizers and 1/2 off thread and a selection of designs my choice, but the lessons are the one thing i really want because it takes me so long to get acquainted with a new machine and all of it capabilities. They are really pushing babylock now and i guess that is why i wanted some other input. I called another dealer and they want $4799 . for a new machine.sl
