I'm thinking about buying myself a new sewing machine (Ive saved some mony because I stopped smoking earlier this year!) Ive settled on a Pfaff machine but can't decide which one! There are 2 which I like ....the Select 2 and the Smart 200c.....has anyone got either of them? and whats your opinion? It would be great if I could get some advice! Thanks

Karen,

I don't have either of these two machines, but I do own a Pfaff Machine and I love it. It is a simple machine, like I am a simple girl, and I would not trade it for any other machine that is being sold. I just love mine. I highly recommend Pfaff brand.

Karen,

I also own a Phaff sewing machine and I'm very pleased with it. Mine is the Tiptronic 2040. It's 7 years old and has never given me any problems, aside from seeming to be a little fussy about small things...but my previous machine was my mother's 1949 Necchi, which is built like a tank and, believe it or not, still runs like new...the only reason I bought a new machine was that the Necchi didn't have any of the fancy stitches.

I Think you will enjoy the Phaff..they are good machines...I'm told that the Levi Strauss Jeans company uses Phaff in their factories. Good Luck!

Thanks ladies, I think youve helped me make my mind up...I'm going to put the order in as soon as get back from my Weight watchers meeting (the extra stone in weight is something I could have done without when I stopped smoking) lol!!
Years ago I worked for Marks and Spencer in one of their clothing factories, so I knew that they were reliable machines, but that was a long time ago!

Thanks again for your input....

Karen,
I don't know much about Pfaff, but I've always heard good things.
Congratulations on quitting smoking! Good luck with your new machine!

I am just here to agree with what everyone has said about Pfaff. I also have a tiptronic and absolutely love it. I use the dual feed when piecing and it makes all the difference in the world. You will enjoy your new toy, I'm sure!

They make a machine that has a 10 inch throat. I highly recommend the larger throat. Mine is not a Phaff but I love quilting with the extra room.

Karen:
My sister has a regular Pfaff and wouldn't trade it for any other machine on earth. I don't know what model she has. They are excellent machines.

I have a Pfaff Serger that is a work horse...I've had it over 20 years and it's still working like brand new. Only problem I ever had with it was the need for a new cutting blade. I don't think you can go wrong with a Pfaff. I also have a Memory Craft 8000 by New Home (Janome) which I've had for about 18 years and LOVE! For sewing classes I have an inexpensive Brother machine that is really a good machine and gives good service but it IS NOT the CADILLAC like the New Home!

Congrats on quitting smoking! What a feat that is. I'm Proud of you

Karen, I'm glad you like your new machine, mostly I want to commend you on quitting smoking, I just had my second anniversary on New Years day and I know what an accomplishment it is! You deserve a new machine!

Karenmay 01-03-2008 05:37 AM

Thanks Kathy! I certainly wouldnt want to start again now...not after all this time (8months) but at the moment Ive got a dose of the 'flu and a rotten cough which is something I never had when I smoked! But then again if I was still smoking it could have turned into something even worse!!

Karenmay--I don't know anything about the machine--but I wanted to say I just love your avatar photo. :D You look like a fun gal to know.

I did Weight Watchers this summer--since both my kids were heading to college I figured it was time to lose the baby weight from the 2nd one. I lost 17 pounds and am in a size 8 :!: :!: Just 3 more lbs to go and I'll be at what I was on my wedding day--23 years ago.

It's the way (weigh?) to go!!

I have lots of blender ideas if you ever need some.

[b] Hi:

I also have a regular Pfaff sewing machine and just love it I have had it for 3 years now. Personally I would not have anything but a Pfaff. I really like the integrated duel feed.

I hope you do go for the Pfaff.

Hi Cassiemae:
I love your avatar. I've never owned a Scottie dog but have always through they were cute little guys. Walks are good!

Know you already got your machine so, you don't need help anymore making your mind up. But, just wanted to put in my word about how much I love PFAFF.

We were a PFAFF dealer. Had a quilt shop and sold them for several years. So, of course I own one but, even without selling them I still think they are the best machine for quilters. Can't beat that Dual Feed. Others are trying to copy it but, nobody compares.

Good choice! You are going to LOVE it!
