I am especially interested in making a quilt that use the photo transfer paper. Does anyone have any suggestions that I should read before beginning?.

A friend of mine bought a photo transfering kit that had instructions & the printer sized material in it. She transfered a photo onto material from the kit & used the computer printer to do it. All I did was help her edit some background cars & people out of the photo (before printing) so that the couple celebrating their wedding anniversary would be the point of focus.
Hopefully someone else out there has more experience with this sort of thing.

I've used several different fabric sheets for memory quilts and wasn't satisfied with the quality of the picture. I recently made an anniversary quilt for my son and daughter-in-law and had good results with fabric sheets from Electric Quilt. The sheets feed through your printer and can be sewn into the quilt like any fabric. Follow the directions that come with the fabric sheets. They have several grades of fabric and I chose the mid-price cotton.

I bought a couple of packs of the transfer sheets but haven't had time to use them yet. I didn't realize it until I got home but they are dry clean only. We don't have a local dry cleaners here, you have to get them sent off. Which would be okay but I'd rather be able to wash them. They do make transfer sheets that are machine washable. If you were going to use these, I would be sure to get the machine washable that way you could throw it in the washer and go. Good luck on your quilt! :D

I'd say to be careful where you use transfer sheets. They give nice clear pictures, but they can crack or peel, particularly if you're trying to sew them. I made a quilt a few years ago where the transfer pictures wouldn't hold up while being quilted and I had to make another quilt with fabric sheets just to have something to give for a planned birthday surprise. In that case, I didn't like the fabric sheets at all - they gave very pale pictures - but the Electric Quilt products have greatly improved the picture quality.

Hi Lillian. Do you recall where you purchased your fabric sheets by Electric Quilt? I'm taking notes in case I want to add a photo to the label on a memory quilt that I'm making.

I bought my fabric sheets online at www.electricquilt.com. There are several different types of cotton/satin fabrics and I used the 8x11 cotton sheets that come 6 to a package for $16.95 plus $5.50 shipping and sales tax (pricing in April, 2007). These worked out fine for me.

i have used a couple different ones. i really like printed treasures. when you are done they can be washed and feel like material. can be found at hobby lobby, joanne's or quilt stores. just follow directions and rinse in cold water after taking back off before sewing into quilt.
