I'm absolutely stoked. :) I just picked up a vintage Pfaff on ebay!!! It's almost identical to my 1222, except it's a flat bed instead of having the skinny body that lets you hem pants and sleeves.
A little back story: A retired gentleman on an automotive board where I also post is looking for a used sewing machine. He's local, and since he is older and retired, I asked him to trade me for his used slacks and shirts that he no longer wears and I'd scavenge any of the useful material that was in it. I'd been planning to pick up another Pfaff, so this was a good excuse to get the Kenmore out of the house, help a guy, and get more for my stash in one swoop. (I hadn't touched it since I bought the machine I currently use.) I'd looked for another machine for several months, but wasn't finding anything in my price range. :) I'm writing this off as a cosmic/divine "atta girl" for making the trade that I did with the local guy. |
I'm a sucker for vintage sewing machines. The old Pfaff's are supposed to be very nice.

Don't know about the vintage Pfaffs, but I certainly LOVE my Pfaff 2038. I always say that if someone broke into the house, I'd let the burgler walk away with just about anything but my Pfaff ...... they'd have to fight me for that ......ha ha.
Is that a pic of Sedona on your avatar???? What a beautiful place to live. We visited a few years ago. |
ok show us a picture...I like the older machines also....you did a nice thing :D

I'm considering a Pfaff 1212 I saw in a consignment store, and I was wondering how you like yours. Do you need a walking foot with it; I hear the Pfaffs have a built in walking foot? I'm a little confused so would appreciate any information. Thanks!

I have the Pfaff 1222E and it has the built in walking foot, I find invaluable.

I have a Pfaff 7550 and a 2144 model. Both have the built in walking foot. I think it is a valuable thing to have on a machine. I use it with everything. You will love it.

WOW!!! It is so true that one good turn deserves another :D:D:D She's a beauty :D:D:D

congrats on your new pfaff!!

I have an 1196 and would sure like to know how old she is! Love the Pfaffs! One problem: it has a nice wide throat but NO walking foot made will fit it!

Check your manuals to see if you even need a walking foot. Most people don't realize that most of Pfaff's machines have the walking foot built into the machine. It isn't a separate attachment.
If you can't find manuals, there are several places online to buy just about any sewing machine manual known to man. Just put in the name of the machine and manual. You'll find a huge collection of sites to choose from. |
Beautiful machine. :-D
I have the Pfaff 7550 with the built in walking foot. I'd be lost without her. |
anyone know how to find a manual for the Pfaff 1212? I have an 84 year old friend who just was given one and she is afraid to try anything with it until she gets some kind of instructions about it............
