Has anyone had pinking shears sharpened? Was it successful? I have three pairs which are not cutting well although they are good makes. Also does anyone have experience of someone in England who does a good job on them. Thanks.

From a discussion the other day ... what about using a rotary cutter with a pinking shear blade? |
My grandmother used to take her shears to the shop that repaired her machines. Out of business now, unfortunately.

I really would like my 8yr old grand-daughter use them. I am reluctant to let her use a rotary cutter yet.~She has just started - today we made bunting. But thanks for the suggestion.

Gingher, for instance, will sharpen their brand of scissors in their North carolina location. Just google it.

i have my great grandmother's pinking shears- she passed away 60 some years ago- she passed them on to my grandma, who gave them to me- i have had them sharpened twice in the 30 years i've had them- i love those shears! find a good reputable person- who specializes in them- not everyone who sharpens shears has experience with pinking shears- and the wrong person can ruin them- the right person however can make them good and sharp for many years

Try putting a drop of oil where the screw is.

My husband sharpens mine with a chainsaw file. I wouldn't try it myself, but he has been sharpening chainsaws for a long time. I have a pair that belonged to my Grandma, they were really dull. Hubby used the file and they are very sharp now.

Thanks everyone

try crumpled up foil, making several cuts in the foil helped to sharpen mine, along with oil at the screw
