I have a deadline for myself, to have the top completely pieced and the back pieced before Monday evening!! I will give it to the long arm quilter at my guild that evening.
Here's the problem: My original design was to make a 4" border out of the cream and a 6 or 8" border out of the large print. I ended up adding one more row of blocks all around to make the diamond shape patterns come out even along the outside. Once I did this, it made it 16 inches bigger in both directions. I had already cut the cream into 4.25" strips and only have 6 of them. It is not enough to go around the perimeter. I have two choices: Cut them in half and make less than a two inch first border, or eliminate that cream border all together... I actually will not have enough of the large print to use for the binding, but have time to get it while the quilt is being quilted...would appreciate any input so I can do it tomorrow!! Sunday...

first pieced top looked incomplete

Susan, thanks for your opinion... this quilt has a wonderful story which I will share when it is finally finished!! It's a replacement to one I did six years ago...I guess you can see why I had to add that one more row around the whole thing.

added rows complete the diamond

narrow cream and then the floral and bind it in green. Gorgeous quilt by the way!

Keep the cream. It really needs it.

Cream then floral. Looks great.

Beachbound 04-17-2011 04:06 AM

Yes, keep the cream but I like the narrow better anyway! A narrow inter border frames a quilt so nice :)

Add the cream border - like it much better that way. Beautiful quilt - and I'm sure there is a wonderful story to go with it!

I like the green triangles and then just the flower border. I wouldn't put the small cream border on it.

Me too. It makes it look so nice. Breaks it up, so all the green doesn't blend together.

ok, it's Sunday noon!! I am going to the sewing room. I am going with the majority opinion that I should use a narrow cream border. When it's finished completely, watch for a post under pictures called "Belva's Photo Quilt". I will tell you the story in that post!
Thanks all for being available for opinions!@ I couldn't wait to get up today and see what you thought.
Have a wonderful day! I will.

I like it with the cream border.

Call the cream a resting strip and everyone will really think you are an expert.
