Please Vote!! Singer Expert Finish EF vs. Black & Decker Digital Advantage D2030
I have absolutely had it with the leaking of my Rowenta iron and have narrowed my search to the two mentioned above. One's 1500 watts, the other 1700 - not sure how much this matters.
Please vote for which you think is the better choice. Both get good reviews. My "issues": - Must have an decently-sized water fill hole - I leave the iron on for long periods while working that causes it to shut off - don't want any water leaks while it's off - I'm lazy and don't empty the water tank after ironing (I know, I know...) - Like lots of steam Thanks. |
Can't help you - I but cheap irons from Walmart - usually Black & Decker. But not familiar with these two.

I don't know about the two you list, but I bought the Reliable Digital Velocity iron - got it cheaper because it was factory refurbished - and I highly recommend both the iron and the service. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Reliable-V10...item589ff3ce06 This iron can't leak because of its design, and the steam is plentiful. It's 1800 watts, so nice and hot. It can be put in a mode where it doesn't automatically shut off, and it is easy to fill. It also works great as a dry iron.

I have the Digital Advantage and it's a nice iron. The beeping on the auto off and when it heats back up drives me a little crazy. I saw the Singer got very good reviews on Consumer Reports.

Save yourself some money and get a cheap iron and use spray starch or water in a pump bottle. That way you don't have to empty the reservoir and if it stops working you can throw it out and get another one. I think the cheap ones last just as long as the expensive ones these days. Just my opinion.

Thanks everybody.
Dunster - it's really tempting and I love the features but requires distilled water or water softer than comes out of our tap. Our water's moderately hard. I think it's the Black and Decker after reading the manuals. Both it and the Singer get good reviews. I can get the B&D for 36 at BBB with the 20% off coupon. So off I go. Thanks again. |

That's good to know, Tate. I didn't know that. I'm reading really good things about the iron. Especially in the instructions, where it says you don't need to empty the tank after using the iron (if the iron is used frequenty - I iron daily).
