Am I able to use brocade fabric in a quilt? My friend has a ton of it, but not enough of each one to really do anything major with... so I was wondering if I'm able to use it in a quilt...

sure! you can quilt anything! i have seen crazy quilts with brocades and lots of ribbon and lace and decorative stitches. they are beautiful!

Sure, but you might want to make the seams a little wider. Brocade's pretty patterns are made by 'floating' threads over other threads, so there is a little more to fray. No big deal, just use seams closer to 1/2 inch. Might want to stay with squares - points could get bulky. Log Cabin with wider strips? Turning Twenty? Rail Fence?

yes must do bigger seams----i would sash it to help stabilize it-----it will be heavy so consider quilt as you go

I saw something at a show yesterday that I had never seen before. It was a texture quilt. 6 inch squares of different texture fabrics. They say that Alzheimer patients feel soothed by rubbing and stroking different textures. The lap quilt had velvet, cordoroy, brocade and lots of other fabrics. Might be an idea for some of your fabric and donate to local nursing home.

Brocades are definitely beautiful in crazy quilts.

Some brocades are rather loosely woven. If I was going to cut brocade into squares, I would use chalk to mark little bit larger squares and zigzag stitch on the edges before cutting.
